Batman Beyond: Terry's Friend Dates a Robot

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

I am surprised that during Justice League Unlimited they didn't aim for continuity porn and say that this "Stepford Wife" was the latest iteration of the robot Toy Man made and... I think was destroyed during Static Shock.

They could have had Superman and Static go into the future and meet Batman Beyond, Future Static, and Future Bruce and have them fight a Toy Man's adopted grandchild who creates an army of Stepford wives.

Or something insane, it is Justice League Unlimited, you could throw out anything.

I wonder if Terry's friend is actually asexual or deeply in the closet actually because I know what I was like as a socially awkward geek in high school and assuming that the anatomically correct fully intelligent sex doll is built fully functional, my chief use of it would probably not be to use it to impress my friends.

Well, yes, I would but privately like I would invite them over and show I'd taught it to gamemaster Dungeons and Dragons.

Dana does indeed have friends, but you're misremembering the scene. The dance was with Terry right after Bruce kicked him out of the Batman job. Terry mentions that he'll have a lot more time to spend with her but he's going to have a lot less money coming his way.
It's right before the Joker and his gang attack Terry and Bruce.
Okay but I thought I do remember a scene like I described.

He seems like a geek pretty much. He doesn't come off predominantly aesexual as much as anti social.

I think it's kind of easy and common for writers to have such a representative character, as writing can come strongly from a more cerebral mindset subject to its own bounded proclivities. Not to assume or apprise you of any this coming from my end lol.

Howard comes off as the proverbial dog who caught the car, someone who doesn't know what to do with whatever he's been chasing.
He spends an exorbitant amount of money on a robot girlfriend, and his plan is to use her to get a human girlfriend?
It does make sense in a way, the episode shows that he's shallow and superficial, treating relationships like toys he can just buy and then discard when something new comes along.

I believe the scene in question began at the club with Dana's friends saying Terry is great and all, but. Then Terry shows up to everyone's surprise and announces he is there, but will have less money. It was either another missed date that he actually showed for. Or they took Dana out and Terry caught up.

I sincerely doubt that a cartoon this old would intentionally have an asexual character in it.

I'm just surprised that Bruce was paying him to begin with.

Terry's Mom would've been pretty suspicious if Terry was working for Bruce and not making any money. I'd imagine, as a single mother, she was expecting Terry's salary to contribute to the household on some level.

It's a fun little episode and the ending is very funny. Not everything has to have a deep message or a long-lasting effect on the series. Not every episode has to be A Better World.
