[Too Much for me to Break Down]

Instead of breaking down your argument paragraph by paragraph, I'll leave four points.

Point 1
With regard to the screencaps from Orville. The clothes depicted actually look like things people wear, and the context makes sense. Lt. Alara was working the heavy bag in a gym before this. Greyson may have had a close shot but it still looked like a top and it wasn't even a professional context. Context is everything; you might wear a swimsuit to the beach, but you wouldn't wear a swimsuit to meet The President (unless perhaps, you're meeting on the beach).

Point 2
I don't get you when you say Discovery has ended after two seasons. The show has been renewed, and is keeping the same ship and most of the cast it started with, though it does seem to be having a "Season Guest Star". Sure, they've moved to the future. I recall when people thought the Mirror Arc would lead into a ship lost in the sea of time scenario. Maybe that's where they're headed, or maybe Discovery will return in Season 4. Heck, if they blew up DS9 or Voyager, or Voyager made it home, I think they could still say the shows were the same if they kept the same cast and such.

Point 3
With regard the "At least Discovery doesn't paper over problems with tits" point, I will compare with Kannazuki no Miko. The show has three things, robot fighting with outcasts, an awful romance plot and tits. I see Enterprise and KnM as roughly the same in one respect; the team behind them most likely thought the show was trash and added tits for some appeal. That is unforgivable in my eyes; make any work you like but at least believe in it!

With Discovery, there are no elements that jump out and bite me as "We don't give a fuck about our show." That's what elevates Discovery over Enterprise in my eyes.

Point 4
I honestly take it as rather an insult that you put words in my mouth in your response. I don't have a problem with fanservice. I've have enjoyed many works with many levels of sexual content, from squeaky clean children's works, through gratuitously sexualized anime, to outright porn with plot. I'll freely admit that I like the sexy, even though sometimes I've wanted to on with the plot.

They way at the end of your post you stuck in all these statements where you claim I hate fanservice was a little hurtful and just plain lazy from a rhetorical standpoint. I might disagree and argue with people on this board, but I respect them enough to read what they say and believe that they do too. If you're going to act like that you might as well argue with a mirror because at least then it will say whatever you want.

I can do the exact same rationalisations you can for the clothing in the Orville as in Star Trek. The only real argument you have is the one I can defend, you don't like.

Point 2

"The show has been renewed", that's why I didn't say "cancelled" it "ended". We now have effectively a different story, set further into the future, but with the same cast and ship and things. its currently being called "short treks" because doing short snippets of storyline are better than full feature length episodes and not a sign of a fear that people are just sick of the stuff in Discovery or anything, right?

Miko is part of a genre in Anime called "Ecchi" (that is a term used to define soft porn), it combines a slice of life (another genre of anime), mecha anime (yet another genre of anime) with a type of Bishounen romance plot (bishounen means beautiful boy and is once again another variant of anime) and does a spectacularly bad job at doing it. its seen as a high point of bad storytelling and plot.

But people don't watch for the plot, they watch it because its fapbank material with the lesbian romance, no one that watched the show cares.

Your comparison of Enterprise and Kanazuki No Miko is very easily laughable to either a sci-fi fan or an anime fan or - like me - both.

A good comparison would be to take Red Dwarf and put that against The Original Series and say "well they both have comedy scenes in them and they're both in space on a small shi{P}, its basically the same thing."

Its not, TOS and RD are hugely different shows.
And so is Kanazuki No Miko and Enterprise. If you want a hint, I've named at least 2 in that list that are comparable. So as an anime fan let me please tell you this one thing.

When a person goes on a diatribe about how Kanazuki no Miko and Star Trek Enterprise are basically the same thing because 1 character in the latter show wears what equates to a gym exercise outfit, I don't think I'm the one stretching things when I say you have a problem with people showing the shapely female figure.

I think you have a problem that there are people who disagree with you and do it in a way that doesn't allow you to dismiss what they say. Now like I say to others, you can say whatever you want about this and about me, doesn't matter TGLS.

My point still stands and its one that NONE of you have even tried to answer.

"If the fan service offends you so much, why do you continue to watch the show with it in?"

See, I know the answer and you know what saying it will do, so you ignore and keep the lie going, but what you desperately want is to say this.
