Looking back on it, I like that Generations used the Duras sisters.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:37 pm The only TOS Klingon woman was a damsel (like all TOS women tended to be), then there is the one with the muscles in Star Trek 5 who proved that the original Sulu was very much not gay after he and Chekov sexually harassed her, then there is Chancellor Azetbur (I dunno how to spell it) who apparently did such a bad job that the council ended up MORE sexist after she left it, and now we have these women - who are thirsty for Riker. That's it.
Klingon women have a terrible run in Star Trek. Most of them are there to be sex objects - even the Duras sisters. What could have been a great plot about sexism (again, well done Azetbur) really was not helped by the cleavage armour. (Great idea btw, wearing armour with huge gaps over the heart among a race known for fighting with bladed weapons).
Its stuff like this that I think makes Star Trek a bit hard to defend nowadays as this ''great liberal utopia''. By modern standards its right wing as hell in many places tbh.

..What mirror universe?
Re: TNG - A Matter of Honor
You're forgetting a couple. K'ehleyr, for example, while sadly a fridge burial, was a rather strong character for the two episodes she was in, and presented a feisty Klingon woman that was intelligent and reasonable.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:37 pm The only TOS Klingon woman was a damsel (like all TOS women tended to be), then there is the one with the muscles in Star Trek 5 who proved that the original Sulu was very much not gay after he and Chekov sexually harassed her, then there is Chancellor Azetbur (I dunno how to spell it) who apparently did such a bad job that the council ended up MORE sexist after she left it, and now we have these women - who are thirsty for Riker. Also, B'elanna Torres, who is one of my favorite characters.

You're thinking of the two-parter "Unification", which is where Stephen Root played the Klingon captain.
The Klingon captain in "A Matter of Honor" was played by Christopher Collins.
That said, it's nice to see Chuck finally using the remastered TNG footage.

This Benzite was an exchange officer, not one who had been through Starfleet academy.
Spock was a socialist: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."
Re: TNG - A Matter of Honor
Odd. I think I saw this episode twice and both times missed the intro. Thus did not see Mendel arrive or Picard and Riker practicing with the phaser.
My favourite scene was not the dealing with the klingon captain nor the matter of honor for Riker. To me it was the klingon woman saying she would take him to bed. He teased back and she left laughing. And then Riker had a deer in the headlights look. "Wait was she serious?" So klingon women intimidate him a bit.
And I have to agree with many here. Chuck noting many consider this great, but it was average for the series means it was great in and of itself as well.

Apparently Frakes had a bad back injury which is what forces him to sit like that.Al-1701 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 10:05 pmBurton must be like "Now you're just showing off, John."

REally, that makes it harder to laugh at him for sitting weird.
Re: TNG - A Matter of Honor
I'm pretty sure they were just fuckin with him. And these ones didn't have the boob armor, I thought that was specifically a Duras sisters thing.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:37 pm and now we have these women - who are thirsty for Riker. That's it.
