The problem with the previous expanded universe was that far more people had not read them than have. As far as the bulk of the casual audience is concerned there are six movies and MAYBE a Clone Wars TV show. I agree they could have adapted it MCU style, but in the latter case you do not need to have read ''Civil War'' to watch ''Civil War''. Its all completely self contained and built up - which is how a film should be.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 4:16 am Hey now. I think Kennedy has made awful decisions, and I'm as pro-liberal as you can get. De-canonizing Legends was just a stupid business move. They should have done what Marvel did and tried to adapt some popular Legends tales to the big screen, but you know, they really wanna make the most money with the least amount of effort, so they just brought back the trio for A New Hope 2.0 to "rinse" the "bad taste" of the prequels out of the fans' mouths. Bleargh. Where's the logic in that? I hope they don't bring KOTOR or the Bane novels or Dawn of the Jedi or Tales of the Jedi to a movie format for this new train wreck of a canon. I'd prefer Legends be canon, thank you very much.
Funnily enough they ended up falling into that trap anyway as a lot of very key New Republic, First Order and Resistance lore was contained in the comic books which few have read.
