Babylon 5: Geometry of Shadows

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned it earlier - in a "yes, she broke her leg, but..." because I really expected her to put up a tougher fight, given her "strong Russian warrior" attitude she has.

The actress BROKE HER LEG. As is she still filmed a scene where she walked before they broke it on-camera.... and you want her to do a fight scene?

No, I don't. But they could have cut away and implied she fought them like a beast. This doesn't feel like the same Ivanova who asked Sheridan to save her a place in the final battle between the Vorlons and the Shadows.

Commanding a ship in a set piece battle with the Elder Races is not quite the same thing as being surprised by a gang fight breaking out in the relatively small room you are in.

True, but my point was that it seemed to diminish her sometimess badass demeanor she had. But then, Ivanova is also sometimes a comic foil - like that rude ambassador whom she brushed off by having sex "the human way" with. So, I guess it is consistent.

there is also difference in coming into a fight prepared for it to happen, and then there is a sci fi equivalent of a fantasy tavern brawl all of sudden happening around you

As noted above, it was an unexpected event. Same way that if a fistfight broke out while she was sitting Shiva for her departed father, she would be just as confused.

After all, political mediations don't usually break out into gang fights. Especially as she was in the early phase of the negotiations and trying to figure out the difference between the green side and the purple side. Being told that there is no difference, and the two just pick their sides from a literal pot threw her for a loop.

Remember, Harry Houdini, famed escape artist, proved that if he properly prepared himself, he could withstand a punch. He died from four unexpected punches from a fan.
