Also, if it doesn't look like a human, we can't have the plot point of using a cloning facility to hide a recently-murdered body.Rocketboy1313 wrote:I am going to go out on a limb and say "cloning" does not necessarily refer to the creation of a full human, or even a human without brain tissue when the purpose is to create meat for consumption. What I think would be the more marketable and acceptable course to take, should you ever want to be a supervillain mad scientist who catters to such demands would be to create a Protein Lattice. Using tissues created to resemble human tissue.
It would save on the creation of bones, there would be no blood so it is easier to clean/butcher, and there is no need for the workers to dispatch and prepare a human looking corpse. Something that might be a bit mind blowing. Unless you work as a cook in New Vegas.
Here is an article on current applications, but as to whether that is the explanation in the game world I don't know for sure, this just seems like a logical compromise.

I didn't say all cloning was lattice.
I didn't say there was no traditional cloning going on.
Of course there are bodies at a cloning facility.
If you are inclined to sell human meat, and don't want people to know that you are using lattice, or just want to advertise it as being human meat, then you would have human bodies on display.

I hope Chuck gets this back up soon. I just finished my playthrough and would love to hear his thoughts but it's down for me.

Re: Technobabylon
Technobabylon is kind of a lighter and softer take on cyberpunk given you're playing doctors as opposed to anti-establishment types, Mandala aside, but I really enjoyed the game and I'm glad you did a review of it, Chuck.
A few points both for and pro:
1. Central is actually Doctor Regis' daughter as well, which affected my decision a bit. She's a cold and logical sort of being but that's because she was raised by the clinical Doctor Vargas. Which is a bad influence as we see with Galatea.
2. Choosing Central actually does result in a really bad ending for Galatea and the others as well. I was also surprised by the conspiracy's "real" agenda which was to set Central free into the internet as a cybercult.
3. I kind of was annoyed this game which is so light and enjoyable has such a high body count of mooks. You kill like half-a-dozen
mercenaries when I think this could have been a violence free storyline.
4. Cheffie is awesome and I love the whole "getting Alexia drunk."
5. The whole cannibal diner thing is really just the sort of thing which is wrong on a conceptual level down. They're not eating human meat because they like it but because it gives them a sense of power and invulnerability.
6. I actually missed Doctor Lao was transgender on my first playthrough. Which is a shame because she's a really positive representation.

None of the endings are good, if you really look at it. Even the ending that is best for Regis and Latha on a personal level, allows Central's continued existence as an "AI gone rogue" or "AI gone evil overlord" waiting to happen. This is probably the point, where Technobabylon is truely at it's most dystopic.CharlesPhipps wrote:2. Choosing Central actually does result in a really bad ending for Galatea and the others as well. She's a positive representation precisely because you do not get it rubbed in your face and can miss it. Her current or previous gender is completely irrelevant to the story and plot and thus isn't lampshaded. That's good writing and character design.CharlesPhipps wrote:6. Re: Technobabylon
To further illustrate the issue for me isn't the fact they're eating diseased flesh, it's the fact they're so jaded and such assholes they actually have gone to the trouble of having cloned human prepared just to show their position in dominating society. That's mentally sick and classicist to easily overwhelm any health concerns.
