2019 Christmas show

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Talk about strawman argument. Then again you are good at that.
OK, if you want. A strawman argument is when you ascribe an argument to the opposition that they didn't use. I'm not aware of having done that. I think you've accused me of that before. If you could point out where I've done that, I'd be obliged.

Huh?
Some people said that the unfavorable reactions to the latest nuWho were because people couldn't handle change. This was my... subtle way of pointing out that when something happens that somebody doesn't like, it isn't necessarily because there was change. Some changes are not for the better.

Plus none of the remastered effects are actually bad. They certainly are not jarringly out of place like the ones in the Star Wars Special Editions are, they are just more about making an effect look the best it could have been even in the late 60s. A lot of the original effects work were average 60s era effects, the remasters make them look like the best 60s effects.

I appreciated the sentiment. I think the "people don't like change" argument is far too often used to deflect or discourage actual criticism. It's not the change that is bad. It's bad change that is bad. Of course, that's likely subjective, but it's dishonest to claim it's simply the change being a change in itself.

They can, and do in a film like Star Wars. But they rarely affect the story. ;)

While it's true that not all change is good there is also that change itself isn't bad thing. That said it's clear that you haven't been watching NuWho anymore so you can't really judge this particular change without actual experience. You are clearly basing your stance on your own political views and what you see as agenda from those that don't share your's.

You still can't find my strawman argument? I can explain what a strawman is again, if you'd like.

The again, it might be a more general comprehension problem on your part. Not watching the show doesn't mean that I have no evidence regarding its contents, does it? I can see reviews of it, I can read from interviews about it, and I can read episode descriptions. To think not watching it means that I don't know anything about it is particularly dim.

So you are saying the effects can effectively affect the story's effect?

I feel like sci fi needs good story first and special effects just help. Although I guess it fair to feel that way.
