Hey, the guy who praised Elon Musk turned out to be Space Hitler so irony intact.
The only problem with this reading of the scene (which is the one I also prefer) is that Stamets does not seem confused, annoyed, or object to it in any way.

We're not meant to see this as a hint something's wrong. It was written straight.

I mean it was but I'm just making an amused observation.

I am not going to talk about real politic cause that has nothing to do with the show as far as i am concern but talk about the few things that caught my attention as i watch the show. First the bridge crew was very female heavy. I think nearly all the personal except for spock and pike were female. I found that weird, not cause it couldn't happen just that sort of imbalance just felt weird and I spoted it quickly cause it was. Now that being said the actors in the crew play the role fairly well.

The second thing i took note is that star trek security has not improve. You beam two aliens to your ship and you don't have a security personal watching sick bay just to avoid having a runner?? Giving this is star trek i took it was part of the norm of how lazy star fleet security tend to be. Even after a war with a klingon they haven't improve.

having finish the series as i took advantage of it been put on free in amazon prime recently since i didn't want to watch nu trek. which is why this post is so late as i didn't want to comment on a show i never saw. I must say the first episode and the use of story telling went well.

Who the hell is this guy claiming to be Kirk? Say what you like about Chris Pine, but by the third film he had begun to nail the performance. This guy is terrible.

And they should never have even introduced Kirk. He didn't need to be here.

I am more forgiving of Paul Wesley's performance but I fully believe he's being done as the Anti-Chris Pine and the reversal is too much of a course correction. This is the calculating seasoned Captain Kirk who was a textbook at the Academy and is very subdued in his performance. He's a rule breaker only in the loosest sense of being a cunning tactician. However, he lacks a great deal of Kirk's humanity and is too old for the part like Pine was too young.

Some people complain about Discovery demonstrating the Trekverse hasn't cured autism or that newer Trek movies and series show same-sex couples.

I'm more disappointed that SNW shows the Trekverse still has FWBs relationships and hazing.

That's because autism isn't a disease. There is nothing to cure.

And as for Friends With Benefits, don't you think that it is actually incredibly likely the more we move away from traditional relationships and marriage in real life that we will have a free love future? In fact with Starfleet's medical tech combined with its post-scarcity society, it takes away the two obstacles that make causal sex a bad idea: STDs and limited access to contraception. The days of staying with one person your whole life and shackling yourself with a ring are already dying, my friend.

Not to get too pedantic but Autism Spectrum Disorder is listed in the ICD-11 and DSM-5.

What's wrong with FWB?

Seconded.
