They also couldn't have predicted that the Dominion had already come to the conclusion that there would be a resistance centered on Earth, and had plans to raze it completely once they conquered the Federation.Madner Kami wrote:The mutants are off for a lot of reasons and it's all a matter of statistics. Or Sisko's betrayal of his own morality, that brought the Romulans into the war? And so on.

It's weird Chuck reviewed this now. It feels to me like it would be the very last episode he would ever review. You know if he was going to stop reviewing this would be his last review.

In my opinion his last ever review should be Babylon 5's "Sleeping in light", not because I prefer that show but because of that self-indulgent yet awesome scene where JMS literally switches off Babylon 5 before it gets blown up in a controlled explosion. I honestly wish Voyager had somehow ended up doing something similar with Brannon Braga causing the ship to implode on itself in some sort of bizarre spatial singularity or something.

I don't find that too strange considering he's already reviewed the other Trek finales. If he stopped reviewing he could certainly do a larger scale Trek retrospective.jadenova wrote:It's weird Chuck reviewed this now. What I do find a little odd is yet another DS9 review immediately following the long march to the finale. Although as a fan of all his Trek reviews I don't have a problem with whatever order is chosen.

I just figured with his love of DS9 he would save the finale for the end.SlackerinDeNile wrote:Why?jadenova wrote:It's weird Chuck reviewed this now. It feels to me like it would be the very last episode he would ever review. You know if he was going to stop reviewing this would be his last review.

I wouldn't say he 'loved' DS9, he just appreciates its deeper storytelling and characterisation in comparison to the rest of the franchise.jadenova wrote:I just figured with his love of DS9 he would save the finale for the end.SlackerinDeNile wrote:Why?jadenova wrote:It's weird Chuck reviewed this now. I love DS9 but I still accept that it is quite flawed, especially compared to other high-quality tv shows that emphasise story arcs such as Twin Peaks and Breaking Bad. It is still one of the best examples of space opera I've seen in film or television and for it's time I think it's very ambitious, even if it did borrow a lot from the outline of Babylon 5.

The Prophets had already intervened at that point - "Statistical Probabilities" happened after "Sacrifice of Angels."Madner Kami wrote:The mutants are off for a lot of reasons and it's all a matter of statistics. Basically the geniuses were wrong. It's not all that uncommon. If they weren't wacky for story purposes they might have tried testing their projections and model some before trying to convince everyone to surrender.
