First of all, I just want to thank Chuck for doing this movie. This was brilliant, thank you Chuck.

I love that he goes into the differences between this and the vanished original, I've been a fan of the Quatermass franchise and there is stuff even I didn't know. I think his amped up version of the American Quatermass is one of Chuck's classic characters now. Darn, if only there was a way to do a crossover of him and Insaneway... I'm looking forward to when he eventually gets to Quatermass and the Pit all the more now, since it has a Scottish Quatermass in it. That should be something. This was a great review though.

I do question how Quatermass could design a rocket that could stick into farmland in the way it did at the start, that is some superstrong design engineering right there, of course we now all know that a rocket wouldn't stick nose down in the dirt after crashing but scatter itself thinly over the landscape. That would mean lots of little bits of space monster all over the countryside, feeding, consuming, zombiefying... Hey, a Walking Dead Crossover!

You'd think that something with a name like "Equator Mass" would have been filmed somewhere warmer than dank old England.

My personal favorite Quatermass movie is Quatermass and The Pit (hopefully that will be reviewed someday), but this is my second. Well worth watching IMO.

I have also donated for Quatermass and the Pit, but that was just before Christmas to help fund the most recent move, I know Chuck has said he might want to do it sooner but it could still be a considerable time away. It'll certainly be interesting to see what he comes up with, and where he stands on the contrast between Donlevy's professor and Andrew Keir's version in the latter movie.

What struck at me most about this movie were the plot similarities between it and another "iconic" sci-fi horror movie of that era, Monster a Go-Go, but how dramatically different their reputations are.

This films execution is far better than Monster a Go-Go.

Oh god yeah, that's a British schlock classic, although it's still nostalgic and enjoyable in its own right.

I saw the Quatermass remake when it first came out on BBC and I wasn't particularly impressed, it came out around the same time as the new Doctor Who, so you can guess which one turned out better. I haven't seen the original so I'm looking forward to watching this review.

Has anyone here seen the old Quatermass TV series from the 60's?

Yeah, this review made me recognize its influence, or at least similar themes, in a lot of the B-features I've seen, such as Night of the Blood Beast or The Crawling Hand. Also have to say the final monster still looks sickeningly organic.
