Robocop Review
Fun fact: this film was made in my hometown.
Do they ever state what exact year Robocop is supposed to take place in, aside from a few decades in the future wherein 1980s corporate economics just kept making things worse?
And, since it's here, let's discuss the meat that Chuck doesn't bog the review in. What do you think of Robocop's stance on such economic policies as urban renewal, gentrification, privatization, corporate America, crime, etc.?

Re: Robocop
The movie never set a year for it to be taking place, because the creative team realized whatever date they put on it they would eventually pass and be silly. But you can figure out the months at least from various context clues, like New Years taking place while Robocop was being created, and the film takes place from November through February, roughly. (and no snow during any of that? In Detroit?)
If you go to the book, which mentions of all things, Sylvester Stallone's 97th birthday, (and he apparently made like 30 more Rambo movies) so you can calculate the date to be 2043.
If you go by the arcade game instead however, it takes place in the far far future of 1990.
If you go the the Robocop/Terminator crossover, it had to be sometime after Terminator 2 and before Judgement day, so between 1991 and 1997.
