What's the point of speculative fiction without geeking out over continuity errors? So, I figured we'd make a game here. Let's all try and spot the times SF Debris has made a continuity error, whether within the show, or one of his own. And keep in mind, this is supposed to be all in good fun. No being cruel, okay? Weird coming from me, I know. But still. I don't mean anything bad.

Anyway, here's my first example. He brought up how the Doctor should have solicited advice from people who had spouses and kids in "Real Life," that Torres wasn't the right one, from a dysfunctional family with no kids or husband or her own. And he's right. But then he goes on to list how he could have asked Hogan, which... no, he can't. This is late Season 3, and remember that Hogan was eaten, thanks to Neelix. I think maybe he might have meant Carey.

First one! Can anyone else spot any more continuity errors?

Eh, Chuck does these things out of sequence, so continuity is going to be messy no matter what. Like this latest DS9 review making so many comment's on last week's episode... even though if you binge through the archive they're going to be 3 seasons apart. It is what it is.

It's also probably why he ends up with such broad parody versions of some of the characters, so he can make a Torres joke, and it holds true both in season 2 and season 6, no matter which order it goes in or what character development there may have been. (Very little usually.)

Plus you get things like B5 where he doesn't review the show for a year and then he comes back to a super complicated continuity heavy episode, well, stuff's gonna happen. It's fine.

This isn't for nitpicking, but fun.

I just don't see the fun in it when the out of sequence nature of the show (and how long its run) is just naturally going to lead to things.

Again, it's not meant to be cruel, but fun. Not even about continuity errors. It could be the times he misspoke something, like when he meant "North Star" but said "Lone Star." Or if you felt he was inconsistent. Though I guess if you guys think it's too mean-spirited, we don't have. Me? I see his show as being like any other speculative fiction franchise, and I do love geeking out over picking apart the continuity in my favorite SF shows. Again, as I said, I didn't necessarily mean timeline-wise. But it's your call. XD

Personally, I don’t see it as mean spirited, but I haven’t caught anything myself. It kind of reminds me of the Nitpicker’s Guide, where the author made clear that it was all in good fun. The second volume for TNG included mistakes he made in the first volume.

By far the most glaring one has to be Malcolm the ranger from S3 of Babylon 5.

Here's one. He said they knew Worf had a child in "Suddenly Human..." before "Reunion."

Oh, here's another one! In "Descent" he commented on how Keiko was probably in charge of Engineering, but... by this time, she had transferred to DS9 along with O'Brien.
