I think any original writing on this episode was destroyed in the BBoard meltdown, so I am re-posting.
The thing I find most interesting about the episode is the literal interpretation of the "Golden Age" of Cybertron, which not only features a golden colored planet, but seems to be in the daytime whereas current Cybertron is nighttime.
It also means that when people see Cybertron as looking "dead" it is not simply humans not having the same aesthetic sensibilities as robots; Cybertron actually is a "desert world" from a robot perspective compared to its heyday.
