Divided We Fall (Justice league)

This was the high point of JLU for me, a review I've been looking forward to, and I think SFDebris closed out the story arc beautifully.

As a side note, I think it highlights something about writing -- knowing when to relax realism a bit (even for a show where being an alien gives you the ability to shoot death rays from your eyes, but not on your own homeworld).

Flash punching Luthor and Braniac apart only makes sense if you ran the pulp that what was left through a centrifuge afterwards. But it's OK, because that was just cleanup; it didn't solve the danger of the week (Brainithor was already down) and it didn't solve the inner demons facing the league. Adding a newly discovered de-merging widget or superpower to do the job would have been a needless complication, and leaving them merged wouldn't have worked when they could just convert any prison into soldiers.

Either "More Than a Bird" or "Superman" (I've seen both titles) by "Five for Fighting"

The official title (according to Wikipedia) is "Superman (It's Not Easy)".

Oh man that song was in another review and I wish I didn't click the link to spoil its usage for this review. Oh well I'm not remembering how the chords play out so much, so all is not lost.

If you wanted to BS up an explanation for the finale here, Flash is essentially able to completely control his own molecular vibration (at least when he's REALLY abusing his powers, which well... that's the point of the scene, he's finally ready to fully use his powers rather than holding back from fear, and then it turns out he was right to be afraid and he can't actually use his powers to that extent and remain human). So using that ability to phase through matter and separate the nano-machine components from Lex's flesh is... still a stretch but within the realm of possibility. Or close enough for government work anyway.

Relatedly, a fun anecdote. So I was gushing about this episode and just how thoroughly it ended Braniac as a villain: I mean, once you have your hero using light speed circumnavigation to power up his punches that's the sort of feat where bringing the villain back would just seem cheap! But it got a friend of mine to crunch some numbers, as follows:
So didn't know where to put this, but just nerding out the magnitude of Flash's punches on Brainiac Luthor. The Earth's circumference is 40,008 km. Wally West is stated to be 86 kg. If you use the animation as the timing for when Flash completes each of his laps around the earth, you get the following:

Lap 1: 9.48 seconds
Lap 2: 9.71 seconds
Lap 3: 11.16 seconds
Lap 4: 5.09 seconds
Lap 5: 2.02 seconds
Lap 6: 0.58 seconds
Lap 7 onwards: 0.5 seconds

With all the variables and the formula for calculating the energy, here's the magnitude of what each punch is the equivalent of:

Lap 1: Energy released by a hurricane in 1 second
Lap 2: Energy released by a hurricane in 1 second
Lap 3: Energy released by a hurricane in 1 second
Lap 4: Equivalent to the explosion 1 Megaton of TNT
Lap 5: Yearly consumption of electricity in Mongolia
Lap 6: About the yield of the Tsar bomb, the largest nuclear weapon ever tested
Lap 7 onwards: Higher than the yield of the Tsar bomb

Supposedly, this isn't even close to how fast Flash can run since 40,000 km/s is nowhere close to the speed of light. Granted, hitting Brainiac Luther with about 6 atom bombs is pretty notable.
Figured someone here might appreciate it.
