I'm really curious about this, Shadow of the Colossus is a game that is based mostly on players filling in the gaps of the story for themselves and no two theories are the same. Seriously I watched one video that said that the player character was a selfish sociopath and another that said that exact same character was doing all he did to fight his leaders.
SOTC is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time and is often exhibit A when anyone wants to prove that games are art and like any good art everyone has their own interpretation of the work. For me SOTC reminds me a lot of Disney's Fantasia, in fact if you remove the dialogue from a lot of the scenes it would fit right into that film like a clove.
And there's not even really that much in the way of dialogue throughout the game as it lets the gameplay tell the story along with the cutscenes. So, again, how would Chuck go about reviewing this sucker?
How Would Chuck Review Shadow of the Colossus
Re: How Would Chuck Review Shadow of the Colossus
It wouldn't be like the other (game) reviews. At the very least, in other games he can show bits and pieces of the story section (see ME2, Sith Inquistor, etc.) By your description, I think the closest comparison would probably be any of the book reviews. He would just talk about the plot over some footage of the game, maybe a few clips for feeling. Maybe like his System Shock 2 review, with LP bits and analysis bits.
