It may not matter much, as the reviews have been edited over time (as I understand), but does anyone know what the very oldest of his video reviews was?

I think he said "The 37's" was his second review ever.

I do often wish there was an "Originally Published" (and if relevant, "Updated on") date somewhere on the review page.

Here's a link that can show you a list of the old YouTube videos in the original order they came out. No dates attached though.

Just click Download then All. It's all the original YT videos before he rerecorded them for BlipTV.

Looking back, it must have been torturous having to primarily review episodes from VOY's first two seasons and ENT's first, all consecutively before even touching TNG (which was "Encounter at Farpoint", not much better!)

That would be nice to have. I watch older reviews in episode order. But someday when I watch them again, and I will, it would be interesting to watch them in reviewed order. On occasion Chuck makes references I think I'm not getting because they reference something he said in a recent, at the time, review. Sometimes it comes to me later, that it was about an episode far apart but that he reviewed close together.

Thanks to Makeshift Python for the link. Chuck did 24 earlier Voyager episodes in a row virtually uninterrupted... I had no idea he used to be such a masochist. :D

Reviewing bad Trek was his original shtick, like Agony Booth or Wil Wheaton's reviews of season one TNG. Since VOYAGER is his least favorite Trek show that makes sense he'd target.

It was also the era of the Nostalgia Critic. Reviewing bad old media and screaming at the screen was trendier than it is today.

I always got the impression he hated Enterprise more, honestly. Its like... okay, consider their worst episodes. "Threshold" was the worst because its plot was stupid and sadly all too prototypical of early Voyager. However, he applauds the guy who played Tom Paris for doing an excellent job with the material he was given-- no matter how distracting the makeup was. But he rates "A Night In Sickbay" as being worse, because its a character piece... and for the Annoying Character of the episode. Who is written so badly in "A Night In Sickbay" that I think Archer has the dubious distinction of getting the first ever Reason You Suck speech in the Opinionated Reviews. Not that anyone else in the episode escapes with their dignity intact, and Phlox in particular comes off as incredibly creepy. Berman and Braga just didn't learn their lesson with Neelix, did they. Its easier to forgive a show for having stupid plots than terrible characters. For that matter, I think he also hates TNG's first two seasons more than Voyager or Enterprise because it manages to have both stupid plots and unlikable characters, at least in many of the episodes he has reviewed so far. The venom he has expressed towards Polaski in particular shows how important good (or bad) character work is to him.

Well his original goal was to review every episode of Voyager in order, so he had no choice but to review them that way. Until he started doing requests, that is, and that changed the game completely because he could not only review other shows, he can now review Voyager itself out of order and show us what the good episodes look like.

I'm pretty sure Chuck's dislike of Voyager stems most from the fact that it was instrumental to him personally; he was excited for this new series and they squandered it hard, even though the truth of the matter is the majority of Voyager is just mediocre. Enterprise and S1+2 TNG are obviously MORE BAD but they always seemed less personal to him.
