ENT - Fusion

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Sad thing is, T'pol's rape became one of the central subplots in her character arc over the series.

Oh, love the new "Presented by the Decree of the Senate" sequence! Wonder if the "Presented by the Decree of the Emperor" will show the Klingon homeworld?

I agree with Chuck. TNG's "Sarek" should be the benchmark for how Vulcans are written.

Wait, who's Serik? Or was Chuck trying to say Surak? Because damn, all it did was confuse me. :?:

Jane Goodall? I only know about her from Bulma in the FUNimation dub of DBZ. :(

I dunno, just the idea that staving off meditation will let you experience intense dreams is just... eh. Not what I envision when I recall Sarek's words from TNG, and it's the kind of idiocy I expect from Voyager. And it's just as dumb from anything in STD.

Oh come on! The mind-meld, a forgotten art? Sigh... Enterprise, why do you hate your audience so?

Gandhi? Hell, Archer could make Jesus Christ punch him in the nose!

And now STD is continuing in the Enterprise time-honored tradition of ruining Trek's oldest alien race - only make that the Klingons instead of the Vulcans. Yeah, I went there.

Show of hands, who else predicted Yuka was going to start in on that again as soon as Chuck made that comment?

I didn't much care for this episode because of its execution, and the retcon of the mind meld.

As an aside, I actually wrote a new version of this episode for my series that was slated for release as episode 1x17, but as the series ground to a halt at 1x13... ;) I'd like to think I did a bit of a better job, if for nothing else because there's no retcon in it.

And the dream stuff? I just... this is not what comes to mind when I think Vulcans have intense emotions that need suppressing.

So how does Pon Farr work? If Vulcans are only in heat once every 7 years, why does he find T'Pol sexually attractive? Y'know, I always thought that this could have been the in-universe justification for her asset enhancing catsuit: no one on her planet would have been even the slightest bit distracted by the sight of a big boobed woman in a tight outfit - and they have a ritual axe fight to deal with the ones that are. But now we see that no, that isn't true at all. Then again, ENT also retconned Pon Farr being a male only thing so there is plenty of nonsense concerning their mating cycle to go around.

Incidentally, one of the things that always bothered me about the retcon that females also Pon Farr WAS the axe fight ritual. Because if men are forced to fight, what do the women do? Besides get sweaty in a tank top and hot pants for Berman's pleasure I mean. Seems a bit of a massive double standard but Vulcan logic never did make much sense to begin with.

I thought it was for Braga's pleasure?
