Is the prohibition against SW Prequel Reviews even still relevant?

The no request for the prequels has been long standing. I know Chuck has said that he doesn't want to do them because they are well trod ground. I think he specifically has RedLetterMedia's (in)famous Plinkett reviews in mind. But in the meantime, he's show that he's more than willing to cover star wars. He's covered the entire classic trilogy, He covers clone wars set in the prequel era. His George Lucas series in part does go into good detail regarding the creation of the the prequels. And since he's still only prohibiting prequels, it can be assumed he would cover any of the new Disney produced films if requested, (and some of them probably already have been.)

Given all this, is there really a reason not to do the prequels? While I'm only a moderate star wars fan, it seems like doing the prequels would be necessary in covering the larger Star Wars tapestry. I'm not looking to pressure Chuck specifically regarding this point, but I am asking, do you think it's time he reversed himself on this point?

Everything has already been said about the prequels, really. They've been talked to death in both what makes them good and what makes them bad and I'd rather see Charles do something that is new and fresh and that wasn't examined with a fine comb and a microscope by everyone and their mother's sister's brother's son yet. especially given that his To-Do-List is still full of already comitted stuff for a couple more years.

I agree with Kami. What can he realistically add? Personally I think he should ban the Disney Star Wars trilogy too.

Yes, that is problem with SW prequels. Covering new ground with them and finding things to say that no one else has already said is difficult or even impossible.

I appreciate these points, but just one retort: Hasn't everything been said about the classic trilogy too? But he went ahead and did those.

Oh and clearspira: Just the new trilogy, or any disney produced starwars movie? because as stated you would be against reviews for force awakens/last jedi/rise of skywalker, but up for reviews of Rogue One and Solo. Is that right?

That's all well and good, but the prohibition is still relevant because Chuck clearly doesn't want to review the prequels. If he changes his mind in the future, fine, but as it stands right now he doesn't want to do it and I don't blame him.

The original trilogy he started I'm p sure as a companion piece to his George Lucas biography series, and even then you could tell he had his work cut out for him coming up with fresh jokes. I mean, how many inserts were there that were literally OTHER peoples' jokes about Star Wars?

Good question. The problem with the trilogy is that TLJ is one of the most controversial films in recent memory. Every reason not to review the Prequels exists with TLJ, including the overexposure and the hostile fanbase. And if you discuss TFA or RoS, then you eventually have to discuss TLJ. It seems hard to justify the Prequel ban in this scenario.

The non trilogy films may be disliked by some but none have seen the vitriol of TLJ so they would be fine imo.

I'm not gonna watch any review that trashes them. I won't even settle for "they're not that bad".

The way a review or video essay on the Star Wars Prequels will get a viewing form me is if it's willing to unapologetically say they're equal to or even better then the OT.

You're entitled to your opinion, but like it or not, that's not happening.

Maybe you need to accept fact that most people don't share your opinion that PT is some flawless masterpiece and move on. It would be better for you.
