It's a nice Tilly short, though I only watched it prior to S2 and it was before I would even know it would actually pay off a bit in that season. Reminded me of those shorts of LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS with a mix of creepy and whimsy. I do look forward to revisiting "Calypso", as that seems to have a huge bearing on where S3 is going.

I'll just jump ahead and say that the "The Escape Artist" is not only so far the best of them but is probably my favorite story of Harry Mudd ever. He was never going to appear in DISCO again, so it's at least nice that they were able to do a whole short dedicated to him.

I hear the fifth short will be animated. If anything, I think these shorts will have the benefit of being able to tell any story in the Trek universe at any point in time, especially as the franchise expands past DISCO.

In the short time I watched STD I found Tilly to be annoying as F. I think she would make a great wife for Neelix, they can run around talking people to death and sticking their noses into other people's business together. Certainly a better match than Kes ever was. Maybe she improved maybe she didn't, but to find that out would mean buying a Discovery box set and I think I would rather kiss a toilet seat.

What kind of composite is Tilly supposed to be? Wesley Crusher, Neelix, Bones, and Barkley?

And a dash of Natalie Portman from ''Garden State'' I would say. Sadly people are just more willing to accept this kind of obnoxious behaviour from women. And not just from the fans, look at how Riker and Geordi treated Barclay on his first appearance. Would Riker have treated a female Barclay like that? I doubt it. Hell, it probably would have turned him on, especially once he learned what she was possibly doing with his holographic duplicate.

The overall special treatment standard is the parent problem, not really a matter of selective favoritism or outright privilege. Personally I think she seems like a real person, though she wasn't one I was taken with as it seemed a lot of people were by the first season.

Also you're not allowed to add characters from other works, nevermind the fact that Garden State isn't Sci-Fi and more importantly I haven't really seen it.

Fair enough. I would say therefore she is mostly a cross between Barclay and Neelix, but there is definitely Wesley in there. I'm not seeing Bones but then I haven't seen what she became.

I included him because she took it upon herself to befriend Michael who'd been outcast. Spock and Kirk are friends through their grown familiarity with each other, learning to understand each other for their respective differences. Bones is naturally just kind of a salt of the earth guy who becomes friends with Kirk and even approaches situations with his outspoken humanity. You might even be able to do a role reversal in that case with Michael being Spock (naturally) and having an unspoken understanding of Tilly's emotional behavior, though they haven't really made tilly a generally competent character yet, which is kind of essential between Kirk and Spock.

Chuck is the only one here who can say nice about Discovery and not be attacked for it.

I wouldn't say has been overall positive or negative about Discovery. I would say his overall view of the series that he has reviewed so far would be ''meh.'' His voice does not gain the reverb that ENT and VOY frequently gives him, and it doesn't gain the excitement that talking about TOS, TNG and DS9 frequently gives him.

My impression of his opinion on DSC was that he saw it as, though not horrible, not quite on the level of "passable." But, like I said, that's just my interpretation, based on what I remember of his last review of it; it's been awhile.

Personally, I watched four or five episodes before deciding I just couldn't get into it.
