Ashes to Ashes

You know, the Kobali reproduction method could make sense. Maybe the core Kobali themselves are some kind of fungus or larva that extends its roots into the body and transforms it as part of the reanimation process, just riding the host form? That would explain why they can't reanimate their own corpses, because the external infestation has already taken root.

That just changes what the Kobali are, it doesn't fix what is stated to be.

Not that sapient parasitic fungus wouldn't have been better. Almost anything would be better.

Nevertheless the problem remains; the Kobali as stated make anti-sense.

It's a nice theory though. Star Trek Online went some way towards papering over the anomaly by stating that it was the result of genetic experimentation that had accidentally rendered their entire race sterile.

It doesn't seem like there would be a conscious choice to go from sex to swiping dead people

The problem of course is that none of that is stated. Imaginative theory though.

Listen, the zombies have intelligence now.

That's all we need to know.
