The biggest question is what's Mark Hamill more embarrassed by? This or The Last Jedi?

Think how much better this film would have been if it had been "The MacGyver"

Ah yes, this live action The Guyver movie. I am pretty sure this one was very first time when Americans adapted manga into movie. 2nd one (Dark Hero) is so much better movie than this 1st one that there is no competition between two.

As for your question i am pretty sure if Mark Hamill is embarrassed by being in movie than The Guyver is one that he would be embarrassed by.

I pose this question because Hamill wouldn't have had an emotional connection to The Guyver manga so he probably viewed this movie as just another acting gig, but he obviously had an emotional connection with Luke, which TLJ went out of its way to ruin in the most insulting and asinine of ways.

*Terrible rhetoric aside*, I hope somebody asks Chuck to review the first couple episodes of the Guyver anime, just to give him some context.

I must admit to have a certain affection for this movie. I'm not going to argue that it's good, or unappreciated. But I can watch it and have a good time.

The sequel is worlds better, though.

Just a minor note:
It's Qi in Chinese, it Ki in Japanese.
So it more then understandable that Aikido Sensei would talk about ki.

I remember catching part of this movie on TV when I was a kid. It seemed like the coolest thing ever.

Man kids have terrible taste. What an utterly tone deaf movie.

There seemed to be a very minor trend in the 90s of movies using Mark Hamill to sell movies. Guyver and Laserhawk were both fairly meh sci-fi movies (that I'll admit I got a soft spot for both, they are bad but enjoyably bad to me) that barely had any Hamill but was usually top billed and the center of marketing.

Did pickup the old OVA of the anime of this series long ago out of curiosity. Did see the live action movie on display in video stores but thankfully never actually watched the thing. I am into tokusatus stuff, like Power Rangers (though I am more into super sentai these days) and Guyver is essentially Kamen Rider if he brutally tore apart his enemies.... so Kamen Rider Amazons.

Not sure I would call his chest beam an ass pull. I mean this is based on a manga and Guyver certainly has that weapon in that.

When Bennet the Sage and Nostalgia Critic reviewed this thing one of my favorite bits was in regards to Mark's transformation bit.

NC: Do they leave him any dignity?
Bennet: Not even a little.
