Spider-Man - Fairwell Spiderman

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

It's a good ending for the show to go out on, but yeah, I wish we had gotten a bit more episodes and more closure. Semper has told us that we would have seen Spider-Man find Mary Jane in Victorian era London where Carnage had ended up there with her and was the real Jack the Ripper and apparently Betty Brandt, Beetle, Jack O'Lantern and Puma would have appeared as well in the sixth season. Makes me wonder if Sandman was finally going to be in the show, since I think it was obvious by then that Cameron's movie wasn't happening.

Since this episode involves the mandatory Stan Lee cameo, I'll leave this here.

I remember watching the series as a child and loving it. Saddened me that it ended without true resolution (all too often the case with cartoons), but at least it was still an ending worthy of the show.

Having this Spider-Man make a cameo in a "Spider-Verse" sequel would be pretty cool.

To me the show didn't really end without a resolution.

The resolution is, "We're going to go find Mary Jane" and then they fly off into the multiverse to go find her. That is an ending.

Really there are only two types of endings in these sorts of stories.
1) "Happily Ever After" this is for plot driven stories, once you crack the case, find the buried treasure, or defeat the monster... then the story is over.
2) "And the Adventure Continues!" which is for character driven stories. That what you just saw is a short section of their much larger and grander story. You may not get to see all of it, but you are glad you were there for what you were. Comic book heroes and other serialized media fall into this alot.

They were not going to have the last episode of the cartoon be Spider-Man retiring. I can picture it in my mind, because it is that same superhero ending we all know. Peter is about to kiss Mary Jane in front of a sun set and they both hear a siren in the distance. She pecks him on the cheek and says, "Go get'em tiger." And you hear thwip as they cut to credits.

This ending is fine... Tho I am sure we would have all liked to see one last episode that ends with what I just described. We are stuck with cosmic grandma driving you to pick up your girlfriend. It is fine.

Fun fact, Madame Web is voiced by Stan Lee's wife. Fitting that she introduces Spidey to Stan Lee. and it's also why they compliment each other ("Who is that exotic lady?" and "I think he truly is special").

I love the resolution in this episode. Peter realizing that his counterpart is an entitled dick, ergo Uncle Ben must've not died here, ergo Uncle Ben is alive, Ergo Uncle Ben is the only person that can talk spider Carnage down. And it works. It's really one of the most brilliant conclusion. Peter's greatest strength is his heart and his mind, not his fists, and he uses both brilliantly here.
