I get why they kept suggesting evacuation. Sure, it wouldn't save the entire population of Earth, or even close, but saving a few thousand people is still saving a few thousand people; if you don't think any of your schemes to stop the burning planet are going to work, best to just save who you can. Especially if, as a high ranking military officer, you have good reason to believe that one of the people saved will be you.

I have a great deal of sympathy for the Hydra crew there; sometimes the universe just goes "yeah, but that's not bad enough," and kicks you harder.

Been on the recieving end of that the last couple of days, with the "harder" this morning being "your grandmother died," and *because that wasn't bad enough,* there is an "and." Because even though it is pretty much as bad as it can get, nothing like sprinkling it with a few more kicks in the shin, right? Stuff that is annoying (but not cosmically bad) normally, but coming right after that bomb dropped, it shows the universe's full spite. (And worst of all, still knowing that, somewhere out there, other people will be having an even worse day.)

So, uh, yeah. I know you probably get this said infrequently Chuck, but genuinely, thanks for making 17 minutes or so where I could just not have to deal with crap and not have to think (very hard) for a just little bit. Kinda needed a little bit of that today. Cheers, mate.


I am quite impressed by this show actually; they might look like they have the budget of an early Doctor Who episode but they clearly still very much gave many solid craps about what they were doing. Too often we see the reverse these days.

And the original BSG too, but yes. It is unfair, but honest in its unfairness. All the other methods are unfair, but try to hide their unfairness and exculpate those who are doing the choosing. First come, first served, puts everything right up front. And it is quicker too.
