...Now that is cleaned and preped, I felt nice and thorough. Though not every human can master science-fiction and write how their own character feels the way they interact?

Rick is an interesting and soon-to-be-true telling on character options. Is Rick always an alcoholic? Why Rick teachs Morty opposite-sided values? Is every comment and action against Jerry justified?

To me on character; this is great because of heavily overused world-building determining a characters morals and choices, like Pillars of Eternity that narrows your options of being good, anti-hero, or half-baked evil madman.

I adore Rick Sanchez for his opinion-turned-opportunity. All the crazy multi-versal themes and choices are clear as day of what Rick has to deal with to teach a new generation, for instance his grandson Morty and possibly Summer, on how to better themselves on loyal-choices.

Plus, this show uses a lot, and I mean a LOT of multi-versal themes. If you chose to go to the bank today, a deposit/receive would be available, if you went to the bank tomorrow, an attempt robbery would happen and you would cry if you survive or not.
Simply put: there is a 1/3 chance to live, a 1/3 chance to suffer, and a 1/3 chance to die. All actions are based on YOU.

And Rick knows this?! He knows how he will suffer and how he will die.

In the later episodes Chuck will review, the themes will be more clear on why Rick cose this life instead of being a clear example of the Emperor Scientist trope.

I never noticed how much eating feces was a recurring theme before.

Speaking of a Kingdom build by dogs, this reminded me of a Japanese scifi manga, the MC and his robot friend found a bunch of stray cats and dogs, with no where to take them to, they use the time machine to bring them back in time, around 300 million years ago and use a device to make the leader dog smart enough to operate the machine that make food for them to eat. When they return, due to the time machine malfunction, they arrived at 1000 years later and discovered the dogs and cats have evolved thank to the device they left behind and had built a civilization for themselves. The following events are about the last days of this civilization on Earth.

Rick and Morty is not my idea of funny, but I can see how to appeals to the South Park crowd.

Rick and Morty is as funny as a freezing-cold spiked mace up the asshole.

Interested to see Chuck's thoughts, I hope he tears its hateful cynicism apart.

Alternate show title: War of the Coprophages

I personally have a love/hate relationship with Rick and Morty, I love the crazy science and creative worlds, aliens, and ideas that the creators come up with, things like the Citadel of Rick's and multiverse in itself are fascinating to me, and while I don't like the gross out humor, there are jokes that are absolutely funny in their absurdity, the squirrels secretly running the world just to name one.

But what stops me from fully enjoying the series are the characters, they are all terrible and unlikable people, specifically Rick and Jerry; Rick is an unfeeling monster who gets away with being terrible to everyone and everything because the universe of Rick and Morty and its stories are overly cynical and written so that Rick is always right, no matter how morally repugnant his actions are, and doesn't learn or change, and even manipulates both his family and the audience into sympathizing with him and getting getting away with it, and after four seasons of this I've lost that sympathy, at the end of season four when he said he was a terrible farther, I said out loud "yes, yes you are, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!" while I've not seen Bojack Horseman, and I don't know the full context, there's a line that a character says that expresses my overall feeling on Rick:

You can't keep doing s[RED ALERT]y things, and then feel bad about yourself, and that makes it okay! You need to be better!

And Jerry is such a pathetic person that only seems to be there just to make Rick look good by comparison, and that patheticness becomes so hard to watch; and the fact that Rick and Morty is a very cynical series where you know there's not going to be a happy ending at the end of the episode or even the series, and it's just not fun to watch anymore.

But surprisingly that's not the worst aspect of Rick and Morty that I hate, if it was just the unlikable characters and cynical worldview then I would have dropped the series and moved on, other people like it just fine, and what King Green talked about in his post is interesting stuff; no, my problem with Rick and Morty is the same I have with South Park, Nostalgia Critic, and Red Letter Media, they promote and glorify cynicism, that being cynical or hate-filled or just negativity equals intelligent and honesty, and thus they're saying to the audience that these actions are perfectly fine and reasonable, that you can say terrible things and be a terrible person, and people will applaud you for doing so, so then you have impressionable people that thrive on that negativity and don't know any better are then given justification for their actions without the need of taking responsibility, basically blindly throwing out quotes and opinions that these series say as if they were their own, and people are very impressionable, less we forget the infamous McDonald's incident.

I agree with you to a degree, but I do think the maker of Rick and Morty are aware of that since with the exception of the first season ever season finale isn't a happy ending for Rick.
