Beast Wars: Aftermath

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Along with Terrorsaur, Waspinator, Airazor, Tigatron, and technically Inferno.

While the change to the look of the characters wasn't their idea, the writers definitely made the most of it. Out of his three looks, transmetal Megatron is probably my favorite.

Removing Terrorsuar, and Scorponok was probably the best move as their roles as traitor and loyalist were also filled by Tarantulas and Inferno respectively and the latter two did it in a much more interesting way.

I'm pretty sure a Transmetal Inferno and Rhinox would break the story

since Inferno pretty much stays as one of the most dangerous Preds till two others show up

I kindof felt that the show suffered from power decay where those who didn't change seemed less powerful and this wasn't really a case of the new guys taking them out to show how badass they were. Some times it wasn't even subtle, for instance Tarantulas goes from shooting missiles in s2 to back to machine guns in s3.

I remember awhile back the Nostalgia Chick did a look at the various incarnations of Starscream and commented that after g1 the writers usually had a hard time justifying Megatron keeping him around given how he is the definition of backstabber but she never brought up how Beast Wars handled Tarantulas. Namely that even though he is completely untrustworthy Megatron still keeps him around cause he's just so damn useful and frequently relies on him being an x factor in his schemes.

True with Rhinox, who basically becomes the full time science guy.

Inferno remains his delightful psychotic self, and basically keeps the same efficiency as a grunt (Though his role as the heavy grunt is somewhat usurped by Rampage).

Waspinator meanwhile basically fulfills the same function as "One of two Predacons who can fly"

It's actually funny to see how the power dynamic sort of evolves on the show - in season 1, Flying is treated as this big thing, and Megatron having two flyers is a huge advantage - the maximals' main advantage is their flyer is Optimus, their strongest fighter. Airazor evens the number of flyers, but she joins so late and does so little it barely even matters. But numerous time the flyer distribution is a big factor.

Come season 2, the Cons are at three flyers - one of them Megatron himself. The Maximals go up to three flyers, with Silverbolt and Cheetor joining Optimus (Airazor and Tigatron are put on a bus, in a decision that makes no sense other than justifying the show continuing by preventing the Maximals from outnumbering their foes). But despite the effort to keep the numbers matched, who can fly sort of stops mattering.

Come season 3, Depthcharge joins, who is not only a match for Rampage, but ALSO flies. Optimus is a flying tank who is basically unmatched for most of the season, but the show does come up with a change of premise (the Maximals now need to guard their base) to justify the maximals not using their new air power to trounce the cons.

Since when was there a transmetal Tigatron, Airrazor, and Inferno?
