I do like the idea of exploring a hero accidentally killing even temporarily.

If we look at his need to fight like an addiction. Then probably not. He would stop to honor his agreement, but then find an excuse to go back to fighting.

Like quitting drinking or smoking the person has to want to quit before they really do. Other wise it is just a break.

That is a good point.

Honestly, as a fan of MMA, I'm not sure what the problem was compared to actual dangerous crimes.

Also, Green Arrow is a real creep with his jealousy.

Maybe it because there are criminals or that MMA have safety protocols meanwhile these cages matches have no problem with murder.

I noticed there's a bit of a double standard when you consider this episode and "Double Date."

In "Double Date" Huntress is kicked out of the League (by one of the senior members rather than in collected discussion as what happened with Hawk-Girl), after attempting to kill her parent's murderer. It strikes me as hypocritical considering J'onn is the one to kick her out even though the series begins with the League wiping out the alien race that killed all the Martians. And there's never any outreach to offer her a position back when she ultimately spares their killer and turns away from vengeance.

Here, Wildcat continuously engages in (presumably) illegal actions. Damn near kills Green Arrow, heck he even fights to kill in the match and walks away with no repercussions.

For all of its positives, Justice League was a little all over the place when it came to morality and their attempts at telling morally complicated stories weren't exactly successful.

There are a few things. First the alien race is in the process of invading Earth, presumably killing most, if not all of humanity. Secondly, it looks like no one other Canary knows that Wildcat is fighting. Also, if I remember correctly, Huntress is warned before she is kicked out but she goes ahead anyway.

Yeah, killing isn't kosher unless humanity is being invaded, or if the threat is monstrous enough that no one feels bad about killing them. Or as was the case with the Ultimen, mass produced clones that have no agency other than being weapons.
