In which comets do not foretell doom and crystal balls do not reveal the future ... technically.

"This show isn't serialized, but it's a developing show, and I think that's a good thing."

I wonder how well this will age when he gets to "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach", because sweet merciful [REDACTED] do I suspect he will have words about how that ended...

I suspect that one will be more getting a repeat of how he discussed Voyager's Blink of an Eye episode with the at one point does a homage to another work become ripping it off discussion.

They could at least have called it Omelas and been honest about the rip-off.

They've could have done away with the whole "the comet knew the future" mystery box, since it doesn't add anything of value to the episode and it's not like they'll return to this story any time soon. And if by any chance, that was only added because of Pike's bad future arc, it's even more pointless, since the season finale pretty much sets in stone the idea that Pike must not change his future.

With that being said, it's an alright episode, definitely better than the pilot. Although I feel it's kind of funny that based on the impact simulation, and the amount of water released on the planet, tiny planets with Earth-like gravity are at this point canon in the ST universe, since this is the Nth time the VFX team screwed up the scale of the planet vs comet. Since if that comet was supposed to be the size of a small moon, then the torpedoes that Enterprise fired at it were the size of Ireland.

I have difficulty getting over Ortegas' hairstyle in this show. It's not because she's a woman. I saw the same hairstyle on the guy bagging my groceries last week and didn't hate it any less then. It's the bastard child of a mullet and a mohawk.

I have seen it alot more on men too. One of my coworkers has a similar style though the sides of his head is a bit longer.

I am just wondering when someone might take a chance on the TOS beehive hair do but 'modernized'.

I knew someone many years ago with a brain tumour who had the side of their head shaved like that due to surgery. That's what that haircut reminds me of every time I see it.

Someone Ill in the head.
