It's OK to make mistakes as long as you don't make the same ones. If you do then you're not learning.

Re: Christmas 2024 | 12 Days of Farscape (In One)
Nothing personifies how hard Farscape stumbled in its early days than ''I ET''. There are a few character moments here and there, but this really is not the Farscape that we would come to know and love later on. It kind of has the cheap feel of an early episode of SG-1. I can see Daniel in this situation, trying to convince a mother and son to find the DHD.
It is also very weird seeing just how much of an aversion early Crichton had to carrying a gun given how important 'Winona'' would become later on. I wonder what the real world reasoning behind this was. A lot of these early villains would not have lasted five minutes against the Crichton of season 2 and this episode is a very good example of that. Later Crichton would have shot that enemy commander and his three goons and been home by lunchtime. I get that is maybe the point to show how Crichton is beginning to break under the strain, but in my opinion Crichton comes off as being rather naive.
There is definitely an argument to be made that Farscape does not truly begin until Chiana arrives, but there is good stuff before then. ''I ET'' is sadly not one of them.

I think the idea was Crichton is an Astronaut ,Not a Space Hero, Soldier or Scoundrel
He's a science dork who didn't sign up for violence, he signed up to be an explorer
Him becoming more adept and harden is just the nature of his experience Crichton's not a killer/fighter by nature... He has to learn to be
As the man himself says
"I am not Kirk, Spock, Luke, Buck, Flash or Arthur frelling Dent. I'm Dorothy Gale from Kansas."

Ah, but Dorothy killed one witch and Dethroned the false Wizard. She was a force to be reckoned with by the end of things. And honestly, he has major Arthur Dent vibes too.
