Annoying Open or Save popup notice

When navigating the boards I often get a popup at the bottom of my screen to either open or save

A web search says it is ad related software (malware I'm guessing, considering the posts that exist to help you remove it). I'm hoping that this issue is something unwanted and cleaning it up has just been put on the back-burner for a bit. I really don't want any more ads showing up than absolutely necessary.
