Looks like they re-did the anti-bot verification along the earlier-suggested lines, with SfDebris-specific knowledge being asked for. It looks like it's worked nicely, too!
Thanks, guys!

It looks like the SFDebris-specific question was removed from registration. Maybe it was getting in the way of new users joining.
Re: Death to All Spammers
Yeah, I had some troubles registering due to the secret question. While trying to join I couldn't get the spelling quite right for the answer, so I sent an email to Chuck with what I thought the answer should be, and asked if he could reply with the exact spelling the system wanted.
I guess some other people were having similar troubles joining?

Re: Death to All Spammers
Another forum I'm a member of still has a really poor CAPTCHA but introduced a 60 second time limit between posts.
The downside is that it's a global 60 second time limit rather than a per board one (from what I've seen), so if you post on board A now, you can't post on board B for at least a minute.
It's also driving a lot of regular users mad.

You know, if you make me a mod, I can totally zap those spammers and their threads for you when you're all in bed. I promise not to abuse my position.

Unlike Yuka I don't believe him. Mod needs to be some one who is level headed and fair regardless of if opinions of other were those political or otherwise match ones that he or she has. So far I haven't seen any proof that Admiral X could be like that.
