Here's the repurposed onion article if you want some specifics. We've had people tossing around terms like "kung flu" and "wuhan virus" for a while. We've had racist attacks against Asian people on the rise all year and the year before.

So now we have the standard song and dance, the tip of the iceberg. Angry white man kills a bunch of Asian women. Police and press go out of their way to humanize him and dehumanize the victims. The killer will not be charged with a hate crime.

There's a few extra bits on this. The complex racial-gender-class politics intersection of this, with stereotypes of Asian women and dehumanization of sex workers. People insisting it's not racist, because it's more offensive to call a mass-murderer "racist" than it is to acknowledge his racism. The police saying "well he just had a bad day" or taking the killer's word for it about his motive. The history of blaming a particular ethnic group for a plague, all the way back to medieval times. How Asian businesses have been suffering, so if you want to do something, you could support your local Asian-owned small business. Ok, looking at this article, it says that he claims it was more of an antisex-worker thing. About charging him with a hate crime, the burden of proof to get a conviction might just be a waste of time, especially since he's very likely to get a life sentence, what with eight counts of first degree murder and at least one attempted murder(a hispanic guy he shot survived). One of his victims was a white guy that was a Trump supporter believe it or not. The police officer just said that the suspect said he wasn't racist, not necessarily vindicating him.

Regardless, the guy is a scumbag and I hope he gets life in prison and never breathes free air again.

That's why I mentioned the intersection of racial stereotypes. And I'm not going to take a mass murderer at his word. Recognizing it as a hate crime is important because this isn't an isolated incident but part of a much larger behavioral pattern.

Calling it "the wuhan virus" doesn't make it racist, given the chasm that is the polarized line between partisan groups right now, and as for "kung flu," yeah, that may be racially insensitive. So what? We need to have some freakin' thicker skin as a society and learn how to take a joke. This is why so many people are being blacklisted by Hollywood, and it's asinine as H.

Take a popular '80s sitcom, Golden Girls. I've never seen it, it was before my time, but my old roommate loves it to death, and he says a lot of online keyboard warriors now are getting all upset that it lampooned gay characters, but they made ethnic and regional stereotypes about everyone, is my understanding, and past that, it was progressive for its day and now, except for people who can't take a joke.

I'm white, I'm male, I'm a Southern redneck, I'm lame as H, I can accept those jokes. It doesn't define who I am.

Golden Girls is a product of its time. Alot of shows from then and even in the 90's will suffer from viewing it from the PC glasses of today.

Ranker once a month posts the same list of shows that are like that. Obviously the guy who originally wrote it is either an idiot who never watched the shows or did it for click bait.

Partisan lines are so split down the middle and separated by an innumerable gulf, I honestly don't think the opinion that it originated in Wuhan makes one racist, especially with the flood of misinformation in our modern society. And as I've observed, racially insensitive should be fine so long as it's egalitarian - like a lot of comedians. If you're gonna be racially insensitive, do it for everyone, all cultures and all ethnic peoples, white, black, Chinese, whatever. And yet they'd cancel George Carlin if he was alive today, merely because he used the word "fruit" to describe gay people, to list one example.

How often in recent history have we seen people concerned about the way society treats white people get unfairly slapped with the "white supremacist" label? That runs the risk of delegitimizing the word, as all of the people I've seen merely giving criticism do not believe white people to be a master race, they more or less think we're all equally s****** under the ruling elites. It's dangerous because it obfuscates the actual white supremacist movements with poor shlubs that wouldn't harm a fly. It's how the division out there just gets worse every day.

Take the entertainment industry. Are we supposed to be impressed they're trying to shove more PC down our throats when they make these political hires, hitting all these blue checkmarks, and so consequently get these really bad writers to helm those projects? Especially when their managers are all caught up in their own hypocrisy, you can see it's as thin as a poker playing card.
