My favorite doctors are 3, because Pertwee is largely the one that I grew up on, and 11, because Smith (and his first season at least) were basically everything I wanted Doctor Who to be.
I really like Troughton, Baker and Capaldi as well. Really they're all good in their own ways but its only natural you find favorites.
Most unfortunate is 9. Eccleston did fine, but he was paired with Rose who I haaaaaaate, and it completely taints the entire season for me.

Re: The 13th Doctor announced
As Christmas gets closer, my anticipation is building. I'm dreading what one more overdone, melodramatic, self-indulgent, creepy, plot hole-filled Moffat cluster fuck might do (though on the other hand, maybe he'll surprise us and turn out another Day of the Doctor, Blink, or Heaven Sent), but I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Whittaker can do, and cautiously optimistic about the change in head writer, if only because it'll at least shake things up a bit, and hopefully keep it fresh.
I'm very curious to see how they'll introduce Jodi Whittaker, though it'll be damn hard to top that first glimpse of Capaldi in DotD (though that's a very atypical situation for the introduction for a new Doctor, of course, so perhaps its not fair to judge others by that standard).

On that Star Trek / pony note, not a cross-over but an actual comic book cover with a movie poster reference:aceina wrote:Darth Wedgius wrote:After resisting leaving an (admittedly) stupid comment on the SFDebris thread saying that requests for Discovery episodes are now open ("Have them find the Discworld, find a stargate on the Discworld, and gate to a world run by candy-colored ponies!"), it occurred to me ...
i would pay the entire worlds currancy for that

If you want multi-verse Star Trek, go find the book "Planet X". Star Trek TNG crew meet the X-men on their way back home after First Contact. The Romulan Republic wrote:Make Star Trek into a crossover multiverse?
No, that's not a joke. I had the book when I was a kid, and I'm fairly sure that Picard and Xavier even get to meet for a few minutes.

Never read it, but I've heard that the other characters comment on how much the two look like each other; which would be a wink at the fourth wall, except it was made before Patrick Stewart was cast as Xavier in the films.Paul Walker wrote: I had the book when I was a kid, and I'm fairly sure that Picard and Xavier even get to meet for a few minutes.

There was a Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover comic as well.

Linkara (Atop the Fourth Wall) reviewed it and he didn't like it.Dînadan wrote:Never read it, but I've heard that the other characters comment on how much the two look like each other; which would be a wink at the fourth wall, except it was made before Patrick Stewart was cast as Xavier in the films.Paul Walker wrote: I had the book when I was a kid, and I'm fairly sure that Picard and Xavier even get to meet for a few minutes.
There's also an X-Men/TOS crossover. Spock nerve-pinches Wolverine and the Enterprise is punched...

Re: The 13th Doctor announced
Oh it certainly wasn't great, but I read it at a young age, and it had Storm being a bit of a bad-ass. At that age that was all that was needed.
I knew about the other crossover as they talked about it in Planet X, but I hadn't read it so couldn't offer anything constructive on it.
I would rate Planet X (or what I remember of it) above the Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover.
There's part of me that's curious what would have happened had Enterprise continued, because I remember there was some chat between Davies and Coto about that being a possibility on screen.

Wasn’t it before that? Could’ve sworn I read something about it being considered during the Xindi arc (iirc at one point they find a ship that’s bigger on the inside and they considered having it be the Tardis, but for whatever reason didn’t go into official talks and changed it to their own bigger-on-the-inside ship.Paul Walker wrote: There's part of me that's curious what would have happened had Enterprise continued, because I remember there was some chat between Davies and Coto about that being a possibility on screen.

Frankly, I think its probably just as well for Who's reputation that it didn't crossover with Enterprise.
