They can pick any other timeline in the thousands to ten thousands of years before the movies. Just the rule is that it has to involve laser swords and guns.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:53 am And that's another thing, it's just standing in the shadow of what others have already done far better and they can't replicate, so it's a fool's errand to even try, but it does make the studio suits very rich, so that's something, I guess.
I'd genuinely prefer a new take on the period prior to the six movies, their select period in history. Something that isn't anything like what we've seen in the Old Republic of SWL. A new exploration into the nature of the Force, the precursor races out there, galactic history. But that's not what they're interested in.
What a Knights of the Old Republic Remake Would Mean for Star Wars Continuity

Plus let's be honest knights always been so far remove from the original movies if you did place it in another universe I don't think anyone would care.

But those would not be timelines then, it'd be just one timeline.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:56 amThey can pick any other timeline in the thousands to ten thousands of years before the movies. And no, it doesn't. Not necessarily.
Yeah, but there's also a foundation, not just to the other stories that build the era, but the far future. Again, KOTOR 2 mentions the Room of a Thousand Fountains, the Agri-Corps, and Force bonds, which were distinctly from the JA YA novels. The TOTJ comics that predate KOTOR tie very well into something like the YJK books, where Brakiss is lecturing Zekk on ancient history, as well as the beast in one of the comics that Exar Kun just leaves lying around to pop out several thousand years later. Or let's take one of the Neti Jedi seen in the siege on Yavin IV by the Shadow Academy. There have been Neti Jedi in the TOTJ comics as well.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:57 am Plus let's be honest knights always been so far remove from the original movies if you did place it in another universe I don't think anyone would care.
Yeah, no one would care, and that's the problem. That's DSWC right there. Bright lights, colors, explosions, upping the scale, and very little story and character or lore.

To me, the YJK novels just become so much more enriching when you've read TOTJ, because then you can see the place Naga Sadow fled with his Massassi warriors after his failed revolution against the Republic, where he laid the seeds for Exar Kun's corruption, the Great Sith War that sparked the KOTOR games, and much later down the line, Luke's Jedi Praxeum, where they had tangle with Exar Kun's spirit and the toll it was taking on his students, Gantoris, Kyp Durron...
That's what the SW universe magical. People like to bash on Mr. Anderson for some reason, but then honestly, the man wrote like the polar opposite to TLJ. For people who hate TLJ, I just don't understand this. It is bizarre.

Listen captain Crimson I understand where your coming from, there are works of fiction I be up and arms for. So before I try to debate you, I want to know I respect you and your opinion. I just don't agree with it.
