DS9 - Visionary

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

DS9 - Visionary

Its a kudos to both the writing and Meaney's acting that even the high concept "O'Brien must suffer" episodes still feel relatable and engaging with their plot turns. This one especially could easily stumble in trying to be too clever or out there, but keeps it just grounded enough that Miles' own drama in the story never loses focus.

Once the Dominion War kicks off, do you suppose those Romulans who tried closing the wormhole went back to DS9 and said, "I toooooooooold you so!"

The Federation eventually tried to do it too, just without killing everybody, but were sabotaged.

Another O'Brien must suffer episode, which means it's a good episode.
Really liked that they used the quantum singularity as a plot point, given how in previous TNG episodes it was already established to cause all kind of funky timey wimey stuff.
Although, it does make me wonder: given how easy it is to track the QS, won't that be a huge flaw in the Romulan cloaking technology?

After the Wormhole Aliens ate an entire Dominion Fleet, I imagine they were given a stern lecture on not antagonising deity posing entities. And afterwards we still had access to all the frontier and riches thereof, of the Gamma Quardrant while the Dominion licked its wounds. Not blowing it up, even with the hindsight of the Dominion War, was still the right thing to do.

What I love here is the subtle little foreshadowing - 50 torpedoes locked onto the Warbird. Nice buildup to The Way of the Warrior. Also, remember back when DS9 just had the most token defenses possible?

Magnified 100x. I did like how there was some talk about upgrading the station that lead up to the Way of the Warrior though.

I always wondered exactly how that refit happened. How much of it was custom made for the station and how much of it was directly Star fleet tech.

I agree with you though how interesting the episodes were when the station hardly had legit defenses against even the best the local powers had to offer.
I got nothing to say here.

Given that a majority of the defenses were phasers and photon torpedoes, it seems mostly the challenge was integrating UFP technology into Cardie designs. Which O'Brien has commented on before - or will, chronologically.

Here's a thought experiment. Not only should Future O'Brien feel bad too, why doesn't he have knowledge of what Past O'Brien was gonna do?

As Mr. Chuck said, can pretty much be boiled down to:

"I hate temporal mechanics."

"I hate temporal mechanics."

Bears repeating. And that's why O'Brien is AWESOME.

That has been said many times how hard it is to integrate Fed tech with Cardie tech. The thing is that the weapons we saw fire look like nothing like Fed tech but Cardie tech. It makes me wonder if they custom made those or that is what Fed tech looks like but with a Cardie paint job. Or they were always there but O'Brian upgraded them with enhanced power/reload/weapons etc.
I got nothing to say here.
