Rumor News Media?

Post by BridgeConsoleMasher »

I've seen a lot of these pop up on my Facebook feed. Articles that have these juicy click-bait titles about actors rumored to be involved with a production some how. I feel like I've seen them here and there for a long time, but haven't really seen anything come out to confirm anything lol.

I just came back from a site that showed a video that talked about a rumor, but added so much boiler plate in discussing pedestrian stuff that I think it was just a matter of letting ads roll on the page.

Are any of these rumor media sites legit or anything. I know there's a lot of people known by YT name etc... but this seems like a trend.

Can you give us an example? Like a screenshot or something? Clickbait newsfeeds are pretty common, and I wouldn't know whether something is "legit" unless I knew who to check.

the content of your facebook feed is algorithmically generated based on your behavior when engaged with the site, to provoke revenue-generating behaviors out of you.

if you keep seeing entertainment gossip articles, it's probably just because you keep clicking on them.

I follow a few movie pages on Facebook and I have found that in the days when it's a dry news day they will create a clock bait article on bs rumors. Or create it themselves.

Just a way to create clicks to make money. My rule of thumb with these rumors is if other sites share the same info.
I got nothing to say here.

This is more aimed at gamers, but a lot of the advice is universal.

This one has had the most juicy rumors as far as I can tell, and a zero confirmation as far as I remember.

Promoting rumors on social media platforms have become popular in the last few years and has even been used as a tool in the so-called "culture wars".

Remember this rumor going around that "Falcon and The Winter Soldier lost 80% of its viewers because it got woke around the second episode"? That was being promoted by the usual anti-woke tubers and news sites and acting like it was true, only for actual reports to come and debunk said rumor and exposing it as a load of rubbish.
