The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai

Post by thisithis »

It may have flopped in theaters But man it did get a huge cult following, even now the film is more popular. It did seriously flop pretty bad when it came out it killed the sequel "Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League." I just feel bad for whoever had to spray paint that title on the side of the wall for the ending credits, for the sequel to be canned. I hope he got paid.

It did star a ton of future movie careers like Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd, Clancy Brown, and so on. Even Jonathan Banks AKA Mike Ehrmantraut from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul or he played that guy that killed Eddie Murphy's best friend in Beverly Hills Cop.

I'll have to rewatch it as I that stuck with me was that it was a movie I tried really hard to like but it's silliness didn't connect.

About the only standout character I can think of in it is Johnathan Lithgow's.

Looking it up, I see that they kept writing scripts over and over and leaving them half finished. That's about what lines up with the movie for me. The beginning and establishment is good, then it declines from there to a limp end.

I like the rumor/theory that Big Trouble in Little China was the sequel.
