No, we're just supposed to accept there's nothing we can do about it and no way to stop it from happening again.

We need to get rid of the filibuster, and frell bipartisanship. Bipartisan action is only useful when both parties are operating in good faith and obeying the rule of law. One party is trying to not use the wrong fork while the other party is trying to enforce a zanier police state over a captive majority.

Define "nearly" here, I mean the Reichstag was A. Successful in actually taking control of the government, B. Blamed on the communists, one of the people the Nazis used as scapegoats. This was just a riot that got into the congress instead of a bunch of poor people's needed local businesses. They didn't burn down the buildings and just took stuff and took selfies. Also you realizing you are implying the democrats are the nazis since they were the ones to harp on this being something that "hasn't hit this country since 9/11".

I'm glad Donald Trump isn't in office anymore, and I hate the actions of those stupid fuckwits who stormed the capitol, but have some perspective. How is this not as bad as what Gina Carano said about "conservatives are being treated like the Jews in the buildup to the Holocaust" crap?

That's the real issue here. I can accept it is totally with Mr. Trump's character to have his lackeys coordinate with these nuts. To date, just like with the Russian allegations, there's zero proof he was involved. And OFC there's never gonna be proof. Even if there is, that has most certainly been buried under lock and key. He was most certainly going for instigation with his words, but at the same time, you cannot condemn somebody on what you cannot prove.

If Mr. Trump is to be taken down, then I think it is important on the basis of provable, illegal acts, such as money laundering, tax evasion, the works. Otherwise, I'll defend Mr. Trump on this. Just since it is within his character, innocent till proven guilty. Again, lefties are so outraged by his words, they wanna take everything they see at face value. The world doesn't work that way. You could raise the counterargument Mr. Trump wouldn't want to coordinate with Russia or these goons because he would see it as beneath him, he'd order his servants to do it.

9/11 killed three thousand Americans and shattered the national psyche so badly we're still paying for it. Worsening race relations can be traced back right to the September 11th attacks. This is not to the same level, even though I never lived through that. Seems almost kind of inevitable. And rising social distrust and anti-establishment political views is not going away, but escalating. Expect more of this in the future.

So what you're saying is that calling it an unsuccessful March on Rome reenactment would be a better analogy?

The tweet says the Senate fell sort of the 60 votes needed.

Careful. Those rules are there to help your side too.

That is the power of propaganda. ''Look at Donald Trump trying to commit treason'' was a headline that captivated the faithful at the exact moment it needed to. Anthems were sung, tears were shed, placards were waved, and ill-informed claims about this being in any way shape or form like the Reichstag are now being made.

There's no leftist propaganda. People are reacting to cold facts about what the rioters did. I agree completely though with BQ that this was more an exhibit of human devolution than it was a grand gesture of civic overtaking. It's more dunning Krueger stuff than anything.

I actually don't know that much about Mussolini's rise to power sorry to say. Were there buffalo horns and facepaint there too? Truthfully I just got annoyed at yet another person making a stretched Nazi comparison with a bunch of reckless dumbasses.
