Maybe Gen X? Outside the Gulf War, it was pretty peaceful for them. And the economy was rebuilding.

But I am also a straight white male. I'm sure women, blacks and the LGBT will have a different opinion.

Definitely. The CEOs or owners of the companies weren't trying to penny pinch every single cent out of their workers to make themselves richer.

The economy wasn't nearly as expansive I think. You didn't have as many corporations probably during the depression, but they were there. There was also a lot less money in circulation that was able to more strongly buy the limited amount of things available.
