You know, it's shows like this that lead all the bigots into thinking that this is what media will devolve into if they let the 'politics' go unchecked? It's still a dumb line of thinking with no basis in reality, but this junk emboldens them, further which does not help!
I'll still give it a chance, but I expect very little.

How many shows like this does it take before it constitutes a trend a wonder?

The dialogue might not be quite as stilted and terrible as the planned PPG pilot, but it's certainly in the same ballpark. >.o Looks like crap and I won't even give it a shot unless people who's opinion I value tell me very good things about it.
Still hope the creators won't get death threats. It's much easier to harass, stalk, and intimidate smaller creators than, say, the mindless bastards at Disney, so they tend to bear the brunt of disappointed backlash from people with too much damn time on their hands.

It was specifically the Empire being non-white. Rebels could be and Jedi.

It was specifically the Empire being non-white. Rebels could be and Jedi.
I think he somehow forgot they were the bad guys.
Maybe he wanted the Nazi parallels to be THAT obvious? That's still a bit red flag raising.

The people I follow who disliked Finn the Stormtrooper disliked it because they thought the Stormtroopers were all clones of Jango Fett AKA a white guy. The moment it was pointed out that this is not in fact the case they went off happy.
Not everything is racism, y'know.
Jango Fett wasn't even white. He was played by a Moari actor.
