There's shitloads of trans actors but Hollywood suits would rather cast the main familiar faces.

To a degree I'm willing to entertain the notion that because Hollywood is driven by fame and name recognition, you do need Name Actors to headline a big movie that gets a budget and released to a lot of theaters, and thus at times a cis actor will play a trans character. Like, y'know what, if you're at least putting the trans actors in notable roles around them so they can become name actors in time, perhaps that's a viable path forward.

But if we're gonna do it, for fuck's sake at least put cis actors in the correct genders. If ScarJo wants to play a trans woman and have a bunch of trans costars, she can knock herself out.

Four that identify as a woman. The fifth is a person who would you describe as a crossdresser but does it 24/7. Goes by a male name and male pronouns but has different names for whatever wig he will wear. We have told him to choose a name and stick to it, no one is going to remember a dozen names. You won't find much transexualized transgender gatekeeping on this forum, thank you very much.

Maybe people that question a trans writer's most pivotal work as a trans allegory, but we're still working on that one.
