THIS. Just think how many unnecessary, badly-written Obligatory Love Triangles we could have been spared. @_@ Imagine it, friends. Imagine how much better the entire CW channel would be and the world of YA fiction would be if we got THAT sorted out earlier.

So, I've heard a lot about Raine Whispers but I haven't seen the character yet. Are they in an episode that hasn't been pirated yet or am I just really unobservant? <_>

Also, most of the really gay episodes of the Owl House are written or cowritten by Molly Knox-Ostertag, so I think on some level she trying to out do her wife in queer rep.
Not just TV Shows but comics, novels and video games are all WAAAY more open about Queer Rep because they aren't really dependent on other counties to make a good profit. If box office in the US was enough believe me we would see a huge increase in LGBT Rep because America is currently very open to LGBT characters. It's why I'm 90% certain that if we get a Frozen TV Series and a Raya TV Series or game we'll likely see Elsa, Raya and Namaari be openly presented as Queer.

To just look at the fandom of RATLD Rayaari IS the most popular ship with even Raya's actor Kelly Tran openly shipping the two, even recording some of her lines as her flirting with Namaari. And with Frozen most people who have never seen the series just assume Elsa is Gay or Ace because the fandom who sees her as such is almost as big as the series itself.
One show I'm really looking forward to is the animated adaptation of Lumberjanes that co-creator Noelle Stevenson is making for HBO Max. Two of the main cast are a wlw couple and another character is a trans woman.
There's also Harley Quinn, which is definitely sticking to their guns and keeping Quinn and Ivy together. Hell, here's the cover of the new comic tie-in: https://i.redd.it/pu6jy2820u771.jpg

I'm defiantly curious to see how that show turned but She-Ra is going to be a REALLY tough act to follow and I don't want to put to much expectations on the upcoming show. I'm truly hoping for the best and will check it out because Stevenson has shown they have some REALLY great talent and I want to see what they come up with next. :)

I'm also a huge fan of the Lumberjanes comic, and even though he hasn't worked on the comic since around 2016 (due to developing She-Ra) it's a project close to her heart.

Disney is not your ally. They will do what is profitable. Which is why they'll throw you a bone occasionally but then go and edit the Chinese release of Star Wars by taking out lesbians and removing Finn from promotional material.
But if you don't believe me, go and count how many of these characters are in the huge, international blockbusters as opposed to shows that only Americans watch. I'll wait.
Dude, did you read the whole thing, I never claimed Disney was doing the best job at LGBT Rep as, again, LeFou is their most notable Queer character in their films. But The Owl House isn't a Bone it's a whole Goddamn Feast. Saying that Lexington is Gay after Gargoyles ended is a bone, having a lesbian couple kiss in the background that was edited out when shown in other countries is a bone. The Owl House doesn't hide what it is and is as out as a show made by Disney can get.

So, what if it's only going to be shown in the states and a few allied Counties that are also LGBT friendly, it's still out and proud and the fact that we have this show is a GOOD thing! The days where Queer Characters had to be hidden is a dying "art" and we're getting closer to LGBT characters being completely normal in the main steam.

I only celebrate the big victories and The Owl House IS a big victory. We have no less then 3 LEAD and at least 2 out and proud LGBT characters in a show that Disney has pushed to the front (and made Season 3 shorter but there's still a chance for a 4th season) and ISN'T hiding it. They even made a video that was a collection of Luz and Amity's growing relationship. Yes, the description box called them friends but let's be honest, NO ONE reads the description box. No one goes to YouTube to read the summaries of a video they go to watch the videos and the video makes it clear that this is a ROMANTIC relationship.

Yes, again it will likely be a while before film catches up to LITERALLY every other media. It's not a perfect world and Disney still has a LONG way to go but The Owl House is one HELL of a first step as it's almost as gay as She-Ra which is, again, THE most gay show I know.

"Almost as gay as She-Ra" is a hell of a recommendation, need to check it out.
I have to tell you, from what I have seen, especially in the wake of the 2016 election, the outcome of ''the culture war'' is by no means as concrete as you think it is.
In what way? Because Trump lost the popular vote twice, conservatives are increasingly dependent on voter suppression and old men to maintain power and the primary backlash against the Democrats is coming from the left. And it's not going to get better for the conservatives because they refuse to budge a fucking inch on this issue and the incoming generation is the quietest yet.
He still won an election and got a bigger vote share in 2020 than literally any other standing president before him. I can't help but think that if we were talking about any one else other then Trump then those would be serious accolades. The actual test will be when he runs in 2024 (because of course he will unless stopped).

And I realise that you were specifically talking about America so I am going off topic, but look at China, look at Russia, look at the rise of the far right on Europe, look at the rise of nationalism in the UK. Look at the rise of TERFs like JK Rowling who command millions of followers.
These people are on the exact same social media platforms that the so-called ''won'' Americans are. And they are there, trying to influence you every single day.

Clearspira, are you positing that you, yourself, care about LGBTQ representation? Or are you just playing devil's advocate again?

No, he didn't. Trump won ~46.9% of the popular vote, a middling result for Republican nominees over the last 40 years, and a middling result for incumbent presidents over the same period. Trump's enormous popular vote total (not share), is the result of two things:
1) An unusually high turnout, which likely has more to do with the increasingly apocalyptic rhetoric everyone's using and the fact that most voters had nothing better to do because of the whole pandemic that happened.
2) The fact that the population of the United States has grown more or less continuously. If you assumed a constant population, Reagan in 1984, Obama in 2008 and Trump in 2020 would have all won roughly the same number of votes (Obama would be about 2% smaller). In reality, Reagan won about 54.5 million votes, Obama won about 69.5 million votes, and Trump won about 74.2 million votes.

Actually the Arabic dub of the Owl House hasn't censored any of the LGBT scenes like Willow's dads and Amity's blushing after she starts having a crush on Lulz. Disney isn't afraid to show LGBT scenes (they even kept the scene from Star VS from Season 2 where two random gay guys kiss) unlike Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon who go out of their way to censor any scenes with LGBT representation (even the Loud House which features two recurring characters who are a gay couple isn't safe from Nickelodeon's censorship in Arabic countries)

He won an election without actually winning the popular vote, while getting near record low percentages of the youth vote. The people that are in favor of Trump are a dying breed and the people opposed to his ideas are growing in number every day. He also had the smallest vote share of any standing president (46.9%) since 1992 when George Bush Sr. managed to only get 37.6% of the vote (Clinton was 49.3%, Bush Jr. was 50.7%. and Obama was 51.1%). Most likely even if he manages to scrap out a win in 2024 it will once again be without the popular vote.

This thread is about gay witches, not the election or 45.
