Silly Idea from the Future: Walt Disney Planet XD

Post by Winter »

Please leave all jokes about how Disney owns just about everything at the door I'm honestly only talking about the idea for fun.

So, in the far future when all of mankind has joined the galactic federation and we all down have several worlds and Disney decides to go all out and make a vacation planet that is owned by them. Theme parks and now entire continents, with each "Land", hotel area, mall, and water park being the size of cities.

I got this idea when looking at the TV Spot for the upcoming Star Wars Hotel which is presented as if it was a space ship in the Star Wars Universe which obviously not going to happen. But I remember a line from Babylon 5 where Garibaldi mentions going to Disney Planet and it got me wondering, with Disney buying everything it can get its hands on, would they buy a literal planet and if so, what would it look like?

Would Disney have space stations styled after Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy? What would a 2,000 Leagues Under the Sea or the Little Mermaid have literal oceans dedicated to them? How would they move guests around if a single park was the size of Walt Disney World itself? Would people be allowed to make homes and live there like Golden Oaks in WDW? How would they handle this planets weather system? Would they use Hologram tech to help better hide the parts we're not suppose to see so guests can just see the magic kingdom (which is a literal kingdom) when landing on the planet so they can just be drawn into the magic of the land? What would parades, nighttime fire works or stunt shows look like? Would they create a Death Star Replica for guests to visit? Would THAT be a hotel?!?!

Seriously what do you think a Disney Planet would look like and, more importantly, would you want to go there?

Isn't there a recent Twitter or some post that was recently shared about a future timeline until 2100? Kinda talked about this.
I got nothing to say here.

Here are the actual tweets. I hadn't realized the NatGeo acquisition predated the Fox aquisition.

I didn't even know Disney acquired National Geographic. Outside BBC and PBS they are the only ones on TV that does produce actual historical documentaries.

NatGeo's television presence was co-owned by Fox, which is why the timeline surprised me (another reason for the acquisition besides Marvel assets?). And Disney isn't the WORST home for the Society, Those Disneynature docs have been top-notch.

And, you're sadly right. The BBC, PBS, and NatGeo are about the only large-scale producers of genuine, educational, nonfiction left. A crying shame.

I don't really watch nature documentaries so I didn't know about Disney nature documentaries. I mean I do enjoy a nice animal fight like an elephant beating the crap out of a hippo with a giant log. That was pretty funny.
