Silly Idea from the Future/A Disney Park Idea: Hyperrealistic Animal Animatronic

Post by Winter »

This is honestly a bit more plausible then some of my other ideas as animatronic tech has advanced so far that we can, in fact, have a robot that looks almost identical to the real thing.

I've mentioned before that I find Disney's Animal Kingdom to be rather lackluster and due to the growing trend of animals being used for entertainment value decreasing as time goes on it's entirely possible that Disney may one day be forced to stop showing animals in Animal Kingdom which would mean the end of several attractions with the most notable being Savor the Savanna.

Now, I'm not saying this would be a good or bad thing as that is NOT what I'm interested, this isn't about animal rights but rather how technology can be used to entertain us. As the video I shared pointed out, imagine being able to walk up to a Tiger without fear of it attacking you or your children, or seeing a Carnotaurus and Iguanodonin or any of the creatures from Pandora during a parade on Discovery Island? Imagine if you could actual meet a Banshee after riding on one in Avatar Flight of Passage, or to see both a European or Eastern Dragon along with meeting Sisu and Pete.

One of my biggest issues with AK is that it's the biggest park in WDW yet it feels so small and because no one wants to give the poor things any anxiety the Night Time show has to be subdued to avoid scaring or angering the animals. But imagine if that was no longer an issue because the real animals aren't there anymore so Animal Kingdom can have it's own Night Time Firework Display. All that space and money needed to keep the animals safe and fed is now replaced with more open space for guests and new attractions.

Again, this isn't meant to be a debate on animal rights but rather to show what can be done with tech that is being made right now and how it can help retain AK's identity and maybe even give guests a more memorable experience. I mean, wouldn't it be awesome to actually interact with these creatures safely?

They're apparently actively developing that kind of technology, or at least a precursor to it.
