His behavior in The Last Jedi versus The Force Awakens is more or less the same though in the second movie, it's been amped up. That's basically the whole point, his emotional immaturity combined with his raw power is what makes him unpredictable and dangerous. "School shooter" is about on the nose.
I might be wrong. I really havent rewatched these movies after home viewing after seeing it in the theaters.
