Oh, wow, that was great. Dude's a class act.

Not so much when it came to those reviews alas. He crowdfunded a book to compile the online reviews he did for the first half of season one with expansion (honnestly not a great deal of expansion really), and part of his promises when pushing the book was that he'd finish off season one which he never did online. Brought it as that sounded like something I'd support.

Second book never materialized. Sure he was getting his best period of net limelight with table top so I can see how he'd be uninterested, but it annoyed me at the time, and hell with how he treated some of the staff on table top doesn't speak to well of him either.

The character of Lore also gave us a short star trek comic from the perspective of Data's cat, who was able to spot the difference. (pun intended)

Same here. For someone who likes to promote "don't be a dick" as a motto, he isn't that great at practicing what he preaches.

I have a bit of a soft spot for this one. It sets a tone and atmosphere than a lot of early episodes, but it also captures exploration and understanding other cultures in a relatively positive way. Plus, jazz trombone for the win!

Given that we do see a touch of computer hacking and holoprogramming over the course of DS9 and Voyager, it would have been interesting to see more Bynar characters at some point.

More practically, the costumes, the audio tricks, the uncomfortable makeup, and the rule about how all Bynars are 'paired' meant that revisiting them, even briefly, would have been kind of expensive.

It sure is lucky that picard decided to show up in the holodeck and stick around since it turns out two people were required to do a data transfer. Also if you were trying to save your civilization wouldn't you make the process as simple and easy as possible instead of requiring two people to input a password in your language? Should be more along the lines of push the big red button.

Different cultures, different percetions. Four Bynars, four combinations, 11 00 10 01, for example. What is immediately and undisputably obvious to you, can be completely unrecognizable to someone else. Think of this symbol:



I'm fairly certain that it is immediatly obvious to you, what this sign is trying to tell you. This symbol's meaning is so common to us, that noone even spared a thought about how we can warn our descendants of the danger of buried nuclear waste products, because we can slap this symbol onto the sealed doors. It needed someone to point out this detail.

Also, 11001001 could very well be the Bynar's equivalent to using 12345678 as a password...
