We deserve neither life nor extinction. We are what we make ourselves. Whatever end we find, it will be ourselves as the architects.
You have no bloody idea what you're talking about. Do you even know of the desires that dictate what you want to make yourself into?
You think you're 100% in control? Then make your favourite meal breakfast, lunch and dinner dogshit and make yourself love every bite of it.
There is more to you than your consciousness and you are not in the drivers seat; you're riding shotgun helping guide who's really behind the wheel.

I don't think humanity deserves to be wiped out but we need to be held accountable for our actions.
I wonder if it's not a question of deserving so much as one of desire. Listening to people, sometimes it seems like they would rather watch the world come to an end than share it with "the likes of them."

It doesn't help that there are a non-insignificant number of people that (for a variety of reasons) believe that the world coming to an end is both necessary and moral. A much smaller subset of those seem to believe it is their duty to bring it about, if they can.

That is very much the sentiment I recieve from someone who raises this question and this is also the reason why I react to it so... violently. Naturally the person asking this question thinks of him- or herself as apart from the greater whole, despite sitting right in the middle of it all. Naturally a single individual can't do much to effect the "big picture" directly and is hardly responsible for what humanity does as a whole and yet, humanity is a mass of individuals and the actions of each and every single individual are a part of the greater whole.
Humanity isn't something different and distant. Humanity is you! And if you sit on your arse and damn humanity, point your finger at it, three fingers point back at you, no matter if you want or intent it or even realize it. This is something that completely seems to elude individuals who pose this question and I find this infurating. The individual that asks this question in earnest, is the same individual that complains about Trump, yet didn't go to vote. It's the same individual that complains about humanity destroying the environment and yet drives a car 500m to buy bread at the bakery. It's the same individual that complains about plastics in the sea and yet buys it's shit from companies who wrap every single slice of cheese in a plastics sheet, despite the packaging already enclosing everything neatly.
Like with everything that you are unhappy with, you don't expect others to change it for you. You start changing yourself and try to influence others around you and even if noone else follows your lead, you changed things already. Sitting on your arse and complaining about everyone else doesn't do anything, doesn't change a goddamn fucking thing. So if you think humanity is not worthy of existence, then either you do what you can to change humanity's ways or you don't and have no right to complain. In either case: Lead by example.

Felt I had to pipe in here. This is not "likes of them" as some kinda bigot thing, this is "the likes of them" as in the vast, vast majority of people are MORONS. Including yours truly. And since we've been evicted and this is the last day I can be online while we enter some truly hard times in finding a new place, is it so wrong, really, if that's the eventual end state? Why wait, let's rush it. Yeah, I know a lot of users here won't believe that. Whatever. I've stopped caring what you think of me.

We live with an extremely mentally ill person, my older half-brother. He never kept the joint clean, he slopped food after himself, my mom can't keep up even with my help, we've been begging for professional cleaning services to come in and HELP, like in 2016, but no one was willing to do it. I personally think they just wanna make back COVID losses since the eviction mortarium expired last month, and they found all the excuse they needed. Even back when we were cleaning better than this, we were never good enough for them. They'd complain about meat we had out to cook that day. Now we have roaches. Ofc, we've been through vermin infestations before. Like termites, bedbugs, and others. But they gave us a week to vacate. A week. That expires today. That is zero time, especially with the weekend coming up. But these people are sharks, what can you do. For a while, we're going to be living in our car. Like it was in 2009.
I'll say something that will probably make Fuzzy happy. I'm REALLY in favor of repealing the vagrancy law. Good intentions, but all it takes is ONE overzealous cop to enforce a law that, well, people are not poor by choice, it just happens. I'll also take a moment to call out clearspira in that I don't think oblivion awaits us in the beyond. Yeah, I've questioned what happens over and over, but there's zero proof one way or another and it's not as absolute as he made it sound. But I've really stopped caring. My life is a waste and I don't care if I'm here, really.

So you are being evicted, because you can't manage to keep the house clean and your housing habits end up damaging the property? What changed between "even back when we we're cleaning better" and today?

Which is why oblivion is the most likely answer. Religion is at least 10,000 years old and the combined efforts of all of those priests, oracles, scholars, and followers for all of those millennia is... ''zero'' evidence. Uh-huh.
Anyway, this isn't another religion thread. I just hope it works out better for you. Things can and do improve as hard as it is to see now.
