Her name is Cara Cunningham now so everyone who thought she was a girl was right after all (more to it obviously but I won't get into it). She's always maintained it wasn't an act, but *shrug*. I mean, the magazine reports and documentaries have already exposed how it's complete bullshit but if you wish to somehow assume that it's an infalliable source of righteousness go ahead. You'd just be wrong, especially since the courts have ruled she's entitled to legal representation.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 9:27 amI realise that the man has already been tried, convicted and executed by Twitter court - which as we all know is the most impartial court there is - but I think we can trust that the US court system is a bit better informed as to what is actually happening. So it's just a kind of Kafka-esque nightmare where she's owned like property as an adult.
Or in other words, I trust the people who are making the decisions that they have the training and information required to make an informed one.
I.e. overturning the ruling before.
Also, you might, you know use basic math as to ask, "Why is a woman who is supposedly demented able to hold punishing careers demanding choreography, singing, and schedules?"

Mmh. I watched that documentary. What I saw can be described in one word: ''bias''. A professional documentary should have representatives from BOTH sides giving their views.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:44 pmI mean, the magazine reports and documentaries have already exposed how it's complete bullshit but if you wish to somehow assume that it's an infalliable source of righteousness go ahead. There are plenty of people who are nuts but also have the skills to do other shit. Look at Micheal Jackson. Its hard to look at a before and after picture of him and think ''yeah, he's got all of his faculties in working order''. In fact, he's a great example of a man who should have had his power of spending his own money taken away. This is a man who was so in debt by the end because he spent all of his money on expensive tat that he agreed to a concert tour that ultimately helped kill him.

So everyone who's fiscally irresponsible should have their financial independence taken away from them and assigned to someone else? Well that sounds like great way to enrich myself, where do I sign the petition?clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 5:26 pm In fact, he's a great example of a man who should have had his power of spending his own money taken away. I mean a conservatorship is for people who LITERALLY CANNOT FUNCTION on their own.
And Brittney hated her father so why the fuck was he her conservator?
Especially as an adult.

Does anybody know what kind of standard was in place that would at some point determine that she was a competent individual? What was supposed to happen aside from her suing her father's practice? It's not as if they put people in prison with no terms as far as when they get out or whatever.
..What mirror universe?

If haircuts are going to be the standard of whether you should legally be allowed to have your own money then I'm seriously concerned about your fiscal policy.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 6:08 amSome people genuinely are mentally disturbed enough that they cannot look after themselves properly. You had me at "I trust the US court system". I mean how are you so determined to find the most unsympathetic standpoints on so many issues?

Based on what my disability advocate friend tells me, it is laughably easy to put people in a conservatorship and frighteningly hard to get them out of it. That's part of why many disability push for getting rid of the entire institutional device.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 7:10 pm Does anybody know what kind of standard was in place that would at some point determine that she was a competent individual? I have absolutely no trust in the people who are making the decisions. I have even less trust in the Twitter groupmind.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 9:27 am Or in other words, I trust the people who are making the decisions that they have the training and information required to make an informed one.
