Thought there was some pizza in the thread that needed cutting.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:01 pmDo you smoke crack? I am not that familiar with the whole converatorship thing. Are social workers involved? Do they do tests on the person involved? Mandatory session with independent psychologists? Plus stuff that I might be forgetting about or not know about?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 7:59 pm Frankly, I think we should abolish conservatorships altogether. The institution is just too open to abuse and exploitation of this kind and the good it does is outweighed by the harm.
I got nothing to say here.

It was to meant that dementia people without relatives wouldn't die in the middle of their house after not paying their bills for months. What it became was people would sign up, drain their bank accounts, and lock them up until they died.

My Mom and her sister had that for their parents (my grandparents) were that because of them having dimentia in their last years of their lives.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:15 pmThe very short version is:McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 4:13 amI am not that familiar with the whole converatorship thing. Yeah, it's a good idea in theory but has been horrifically abused by con men.
And if Brittney can do shows and ask for lawyers to protect her from her father, she's absolutely able to make her own decisions.
We don't have conservatorships for schizophrenics and its VERY questionable she has any condition other than stress from the dozens of people she deals with every day from bodyguards to friends.

I mean I'd probably go crazy if Jamie Spears was my father, but that's no call to deny any person with a mental illness their financial autonomy.

Allow me to give what a real lawyer would have asked:Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 3:18 am I mean I'd probably go crazy if Jamie Spears was my father, but that's no call to deny any person with a mental illness their financial autonomy.
Lawyer: Your Honor, may I ask what sort of medical attention Ms. Spears has been given to treat her condition and what that condition is, exactly?
The Netflix documentary tracked down the psychologist who labeled Brittney unfit and he absolutely refused to admit he said it even though it was said in the court documents. Probably because he knows he'll have his ass sued to hell if Brittney gets back her life.
Re: Britney's Spear spied on by her own father.
I'm not up to date about her situation and what led up to this. But I do remember that Jamie Spears wasnt exactly let's say the best father to her during her childhood and during her prime fame time.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 3:18 am I mean I'd probably go crazy if Jamie Spears was my father, but that's no call to deny any person with a mental illness their financial autonomy.
How did he manage to get that much power over her after all that 14 years later anyway?
I got nothing to say here.

As I've spent most of the thread explaining, because conservatorships as an institution are ripe for abuse to the point of fermentation. There's also a sizeable intersection between societal misogyny and societal ablism.
