I was thinking something similar. He seems like the kind of guy that's self-aware enough to make a joke on the crew along those lines.

Ah yes. I'm looking forward to the conspiracy theories - that this was the moment Will Shattner got taken back to his home planet by aliens and replaced with an android copy. And the crew - being Blue Origin employees - were all on it. In fact the reason Jeff Bezos is doing so bad in space industry and suing anyone who's better is that it's all an alien plot to slow down/stop mankind's progress on it's way to space :D
