Also, there was another mass shooting, this time in an Idaho mall. Just FYI. But I'm sure that's not a surprise to anyone.

Why does the fact that she's a transwoman matter at all? A hero is a hero no matter what they've got between their legs.

I agree with clearspira, seems weird to bring up that she's trans. She fought to save people and she died doing it, that's what's important. Now if someone was insulting her through deadnaming and misgendering, then I would agree it's relevant...

Although I guess lgbtnation wouldn't be covering it otherwise, we're pretty much desensitized to mass shootings these days. As the evergreen Onion headline says, "'No Way To Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens".

During the Civil War, black soldiers insisted on having their race brought up because they wanted to make it clear that the slander on them as a race that they were cowards was a lie and that they were fighting for their freedom.

Here it is important to show someone who repudiates all the slander against trans people.

I don't recall anyone suggesting that transsexuals can't die trying to stop a shooter. Have I missed something?

I think that the community just want to be in a news that isn't for some bigot agenda.
